anyone know of parts status at precision?

Hello,

I've sent my 5D to precision camera on 2 Nov for the first black frame problem and the strong purple tint in the upper left corner on long (30 sec or longer) exposures. Yesturday precision told me a AS module is on order for it. I've read alot of posts, some say they've been told precision can't get parts anymore, some say they got their shutters replaced fairly quick. Just wondering if anyone recently had their AS module replaced for the first black frame problem, or is anyone else currently waiting on parts. I've read the purple tint on long exposures is expected due to sensor thermal issues, I wonder if replacing the AS could make that better? Anyone know if a new AS module means a new sensor too? Thanks!

All I know is that it seems Precision has gotten parts from somewhere. Some they have in stock, and some they have to order. I know one 7D owner whose camera is waiting for a shuuter which is due to Precision by 11/21.

So, there are no more refunds?

I didn't say that. I still hear of refunds, but more are being repaired now than a couple of months ago.

I'm hoping for a refund, then I grab a A100. Wish precision kept the status on their website updated.

They updated the status on my7D regularly. My only complaint is that the had a tracking number on 11/13 and the package didn't leave until the 14th. All in all, I had a pleasant experience.

Glad to hear. They've had my 5D since 7 Nov, the web site still just says "received". But they tell me on the phone they troubleshot it right away and have the part backordered. I like hearing good things about the people working on my camera.

They had mine in on a Friday AM and ready for UPS the next Monday, but I know a lady whose 7D is waiting for a shutter assembly, which Precision told her would be in 11/21. Good luck with yours.
