Hi All,

I am trying to get my head around these shooting and custom banks on the D200, first what is the difference between shooting and custom banks?. I have read the manual a few times, but I can't find the answers in it. Also when the settings in customs are finished how are the settings saved? and if I wanted to make a bank A say for normal shooting, and bank B for action shooting, how is this done?. Hope some of you experts out there have some answers as I feel completely lost.

Thanks in advance,
JG

Hi All,
I am trying to get my head around these shooting and custom banks
on the D200, first what is the difference between shooting and
custom banks?
There is a Shooting Menu, and a Custom Menu.

You could designate Bank A for your landscape settings. This would mean that the Shooting Menu and Custom Menu in Bank A would have applicable Landscape settings.

In my case I also have Bank B set up for action pictures. Since my Shooting Menu for action pictures is the same as for Landscape I use Bank A. However, my CM settings for action pictures are not the same and therefore I use Bank B.

Shooting Landscape: Shooting Menu = Bank A, CM = Bank A
Action Shots: Shooting Menu = Bank A, CM = Bank B
Portrait Shots: Shooting Menu = Bank C, CM = Bank C
I have read the manual a few times, but I can't find
the answers in it. Also when the settings in customs are finished
how are the settings saved?
In most cases when you reach the point in a menu where it says "OK" press the ENTER button. This saves the change. HOWEVER, there are some items where you must make the change and then scroll up to DONE and press the ENTER key again.
And if I wanted to make a bank A say
for normal shooting, and bank B for action shooting, how is this
done?. Hope some of you experts out there have some answers as I
feel completely lost.
Your manual explains this: Pages125-126 for the shooting menu, and Page 146 for the Custom Menu (CM).

I am going to suggest you purchase Thom Hogan's "Complete Guide to the Nikon D200", e-book.

The site is: http://www.bythom.com

While the Nikon manual is very good, Thom's book is a step by step process in how to use and set-up the D200.

Hi guys,

Thanks for your tips and advice. Sorry for the late reply, but I had some trouble with my net connection.
Regards,
JG.
