UPS scum about to taste some medicine?

I'll join in that! I've been charged brokerage fees higher than the value of the item imported.

with all that lawsuit going on, are they still charging brokerage fees? im quite intrigued by this as im planning to buy something from bhphoto soon, and am wondering what is the best carrier methods, seems like USPS is a better choice than UPS, however, is there a merchandise fee for USPS shipments? because i was charged $20 fee for $100 item using USPS global express

ok, since numerous people has been telling me to ship UPS expedit/express and they wont charge hidden brokerage fees then im quite convinced now. but it doesnt really make sense as expedit is only slightly more than standard, and brokerage fee adding on top of standard UPS shipping is greater than expedit... and expedit is faster than standard... confusing isnt it?

Just look at our justice system. It's a joke beyond belief. The
whole country is in very sick mode.
Name a country that isn't. ;)

But I wish you hadn't made that "nothing makes sense in Canada" remark. Now I'm hearing annoying cartoon characters singing...

Times have changed
Our kids are getting worse
They won't obey their parents
They just want to fart and curse!

Should we blame the government?

Or blame society?

Or should we blame the images on TV?

No, blame Canada
Blame Canada

ah, i just found this link regarding the shipping rates for UPS and
its brokerage fee policy, take a look:

http://www.ups.com/content/ca/en/shipping/cost/zones/customs_clearance.html

looks like UPS standard does in fact charge brokerage fees based on
the value of the item.

and UPS express/expedit is automatically cleared (free)
so, the fees may not be hidden after all.

I would think that the shipper would be responsible for making the consumer aware of the charge since it is published.

We shipped a package to Toronto and our relative had to pay
$80 to pick up the package. That was twice what we paid to UPS
here in the States and if it were not a camera we bought for their
new baby due in a week, I would have suggested to send it back.

This seems to be just for Canada? What is up with Canada or is is
happening in other places. Nothing short of blackmail and taking your
shippments hostage. I would avoid UPS in Canada althgether. What the
heck are they thinking? The person shipping has paid and now they
want this blackmail fee for delivery on the other end?

The fact is that the moral and ethical business practice now centers around "Whatever they can get away with".

"The fact is that the moral and ethical business practice now centers around "Whatever they can get away with"."

Perhaps the fact is that people don't care what the government costs as long as they don't have to pay. If the costs get passed on to them, it's obviously unfair.
