Panasonic DMC-FZ20K from Costco; no packing slip.

Dear Big Steve

I am sorry you were offended, truly offended by what I wrote light-heartedly.

I actually did answer your questions, even the ones about what settings to use. (I don't think anyone else gave you such advice.) :-)

Everyone who posts in here, and who walks down the street, even, has a tragic story of some sort to air. We just usually don't share it all in a photo forum - there are other places for that.

However, in light of your horrendous last couple of years I also offer my (genuine) sympathy on the loss of your father and for your concerns you obviously had during the katrina episode.

You have also completely misunderstood what I said about biloxi (who cares, anyway, what I think about something????) and our wonderful friend and ally, the USA (cough splutter!!) I LIKE costco!! I shake my head in wonderment that I could be so misunderstood.

Please enjoy your time in the forum and be assured that I will be careful what I say in your presence in case you are offended - maybe. A sense of humour was partly instrumental in seeing me freed from 20 years of debilitating depression which saw me lose - oops.... (It's true, but it does not belong here!) Now I am just glad that I have more than I ever had before!

Best regards

Trevor Ginaus
Trevor G:

Aussie Boy have you got nerve!
Yep! :-) and a sense of humour :-)
Your bashing ... just goes to
show how much of a jerk you really are.
Aaah, but at least i don't call anyone names....or slam them for where they live. Read what I wrote again, and get off your high horse, Big Steve. Let's just be friends, OK?

Regards

Trevor Ginaus

PS I am sorry you are offended by what I have written, but that is the way I write. If you read it carefully you will see that I have not done any of the things you claimed. I have no desire or need to offend you. Peace :-)

I spoke to Costco earlier today who informed me they were sorry that a receipt/packing slip wasn't included with my order and would mail me one today but thanks for agreeing with me on my point. I'm used to purchasing something from a vendor and receiving an invoice or packing slip with it.

When I noticed there was no slip with the camera; I didn't go into panic mode since many on this board told me that Costco was a good company to deal with although I did have a long wait time on the phone earlier today before I got to speak to a live person concerning the matter which has now been resolved.

Are you ever satisfied? I'm beginning to think the answer to that question is no. Please just use the damn thing and stop posting over every little thing.

My Panasonic DMC-FZ20K which I ordered exactly one week ago today
from Costco for the price of $249.99 + fees came today but no
packing slip or invoice came with my camera. I've attempted to
contact Costco's customer service tonight to ask them if this is
standard to ship out merchandise then send out proof of purchase
later; my attempts were unsuccessful; never could get through.

From all appearances the camera appears to be new; no labels on the
box indicating it was a refurb. Was also unable to locate
anywhere on the outside of the camera the year that it was made.
The camera is slightly larger than the DMC-FZ7 which I purchased
from QVC and sent back the next day due to it's small size for my
large hands.

All the literature which came with the camera I received today also
appears to be new but the plastic bag which contained the
literature was already opened. Anyone on this board who's got a
DMC-FZ20 can you tell me where to check to determine when my camera
was made?

The day I placed my order Costco's rep told me my camera would be
shipped directly from Panasonic. According to the UPS tracking
number my camera was shipped to me from a warehouse named CT in the
state of Washington. The box which contained the camera had lots
of finger prints on it and was also dusty. Any chance I was
shipped a camera someone else had owned and decided to ship back to
Costco?

The FZ20 is a very old model - you would wonder how they get the stock from? Wouldn't you? It's likely a returned item that has no cosmetic blemish and Panny tried to pass it as new. However, Costco is very good to their customers (and employees). If you don't like it, get your refund.

That's what I plan to do once I receive a copy of a Costco sales receipt which they said they'd mail to me today. If the camera had been a DMC-FZ20S instead of a DMC-FZ20K I'd probably go ahead and keep it; that silvertone finish with the black and grey does look nice.

All these recent posts about the FZ20K being an old camera; I already knew that before I decided to buy it after I read the review on the DMC-FZ20 on this website but old or not it's still would have been a good camera for someone's first digital camera I think. Yea the DMC-FZ50 is the latest and greatest but you can't buy a DMC-FZ50 anywhere to my knowledge for $249.99.
