Hello everyone

Anyone shooting with a Carl Zeiss 50mm f1.4 Planar T* on a Canon 5D?

If so... which adaptor are you using?

Have you had any problems with infinity focus or the camera mirror hitting the rear of the lens?

Thanks in advance,

Guy.

Search on ebay for 'AF-confirm' adapters. You will get confirmation beep and light when the lens focus. It helps a lot. :)

one thing of note, i tried that one and it absolutely was no better than the canon 50 1.4 in terms of image quality (although it was almost as good at AF, haha). i doubt you will be amazed. OTOH, i hear the 21mm is supposed to blow the canon 20mm completely, utterly out of the water (and i've seen quite a few screen shots demonstrating so).

You can find full resolution pics with Zeiss 21f2.8, 28f2.8, 35f2.8, 50f1.4, 85f1.4, 100f2, 28-85f3.3-4 lenses on Canon 5D & 20D cameras.

ALL lenses perform extraordinary well on Canon cameras. All these primes are sharper (esp. in the edges) and have less CA than comparable Canon lenses. The Zeiss 28-85 zoom (and the 35-70 and 35-135) from the 1980s is much better than the Canon 24-105 for instance.

Infinity focus at open aparture is a problem with some lenses (50f1.4, 28f2.8, 85f1.4), you would need a 1.3-1.4 mm thick adapter from http://www.adaptersolutions.com instead of the standard 1.5 mm adapters.

By the way, all Zeiss lenses mentioned above work without lens or mirror modification on the 5D.
Try it, it is really a pleasure!
Christoph
