EF 70-200 f/4 L IS review

I cant believe this !! In comparison shots F4 IS beats 70-200mm/2.8, 85/1.8 , and F4 non-IS at the same FL and apertures.
plus it has 4 stop IS.
I am going for this one. but wait for more reviews with different copies.

85/1.8 and the 135L for this lens. Whadayathink?

Funny, a friend of mine is debating weather he should get the 85 and 135 instead of a 70-200

Another question is , will the F/4 make a great portrait lens. I normally use a prime as of now, but how good would this be for Studio type portraits? I have a set of Alien Bees I use very freqently.

for $900 including tripod collar it's a killer. for $1250 without collar it's way overpriced. the 70-200/2.8IS looks like a bargain now. just think how much the 300/2.8IS cost more than the 300/4IS...

yea the 70-200/2.8 is bigger, but that's what you need for that 'wow' factor isn't it...

Yes you are right the used 70-400 non IS's will drop in price due to that.

I got the 70-200 f4IS for $1135, no tax or shipping. So thats cheaper than on the net.

This company will ship if anyone is interested. Although their next sale of no tax is a month away. If you live in orange county I can give you the info.

is what i meant. you can actually buy the 24-105 for about $1050. i paid $1199 last night for the 70-200L f4 IS but it's MSRP was $1250.

the same was predicted of the 17-40L after the 17-55 was released and the 24-70L after the release of the 24-105L.

i think since many 70-200f4 buyers are new DSLR owners and/or cost conscious you will see more f2.8s and f2.8 IS hit the resale market.

many who own the larger lenses probably don't need f2.8 or the extra price and weight...i.e., they bought the sizzle and can't pack the bacon .

that's my call .

Theres my post and links to the album. I found I could shoot about 1/20sec indoors with steady hands.

I also have a few in there with 1600ISO and some with the 12mm tube, and 2x teleconverter to try 400mm. I'm impressed!

What a perfect lens, and take with you the 12mm tube and the teleconverter.....set for the day other than wide. With one light weight lens. Sweet. All hand held, and other than the bird[@400mm], all no PP whatsoever. Some original crops.
