I am looking to buy the best Epson A4 priner. As far as I can see the R800 is the best one. I just read a review which stated that it was released feb. 2004. That's more than 2 and a half year old. Considering how fast the computer industry evolves, I feel nervous about buying such an old model.

I have just returned from a trip to Japan and had a chance to look at their Epson printers. They have many more models than we do here in Denmark (and the rest of europe). Their best A4 printer was called PX-G930 ( http://www.epson.jp/products/colorio/printer/pxg930/index.htm ), but the specs looks pretty much the same as the R800...?

Should I wait a bit to see if Epson will release a new and better A4 printer or just go for the "old" R800? I could wait a bit, if something new is coming up soon...

In case you are considering getting a printer in Japan and bringing it back with you consider this... the Japan printers use ink cartridges that are chipped differently then the rest of the world... so, all of your inks would have to come from Japan... (or you would have to buy a chip resetter and swap your chips to cartridges from your own country.

Did they release a new A4 printer?

As far as I can see, then they've only released large format printer (R1800 and R2400) and PictureMate printers, which prints on 4x6 pictures, but no new A4 printer.

thanks.
