About 3 weeks ago, on vacation, i went to turn on my G6 and nothing. Nothing powered up. It worked fine a few days prior to that.

The only thing that has ever happened i believe is a screw coming out of the flip lcd but my wife said she put it back in. Whether she used it after that i'm not sure so i'm not certain if that would have anything to do with it. I charged 3 different batteries..and nothing. Even used a different charger..so its not that.

I've owned it for about a year and half..maybe closer to two years. So i don't think its in warranty.

What to do? Take to local camera shop? Send into Canon? (i think that probably involves a bit a money). Seems a bit weird that it would just stop all of a sudden. I've half a mind to order a G7 and just ebay the G6 as is.

Anyone have ideas?

Send it to canon first for service and ask if they can change it to a G7. If you can wait and depends on which country.

I am suggesting, knowing that Canon for most country has very good service.

This my opinion, I do not want you to accept my view, but I humbly ask you to evaluate what I say and judge for yourself, if it make sense. :)

No. No airport scanners. Just a drive to Gatlinburg, TN. It's always kept in camera bag when not being used. Nothing out of ordinary happened to it other than the loose screw.

I'll probably send it in to Canon. I just thought perhaps someone experienced something similar and had an easy fix or something.

Someone sent in a G5? or G6? to Canon and was offered a G7 instead of repairing the old G_. Just an idea. Look up the recent thread on the subject. But make sure it's not something simple like a bad battery. Otherwise, you won't get the G7 offer.

I used 3 different batteries and two different chargers. It's not that. Works in older G2 (my in-law's camera now)
