[Not a K10D thread] Guess the portrait lens

With the flat lighting and poor white balance, I don't think the test tellls very much at all. Better lighting and control of the shots might help more to point out some differences, but at 72dpi on this site...???

You need to test the 2 lenses on a tripod. Your ability to hand hold a focal length shouldn't get in the way of the test. Once you use a tripod and see the difference you can work to get your hand holding better. Testing handheld it is possible that the 31 Limited would beat the 50. Not because its better (it is) but because its easier to hold. We aren't trying to test the hand holdability of lenses. We are trying to test their quality. Keep working at it. Notice how many Limited owners are even considering doing without their Limiteds?

these photos don't show a lot of color or contrast, so it's hard to tell, but it was fun anyway. Harder this way.

Having f/1.8 at 77mm. is a very cool thing though, and I won't even mention the build quality of that Limited. It's really worth the extra cost despite the comparative sharpness to the FA 50/1.4.
