Can someone tell me how to burn SVCD format slideshows using Ulead's DVD Pictureshow. Unfortunately my DVD player doesn't recognize the miniDVD format and the image quality of VCD is just too poor. My last hope is SVCD.

I don't think you can; Pictureshow is VCD2

SVCD is not supported by many DVD players, so it might not be very useful, even if it is better.

Fortunately my Panasonic DVD-RP56 will play SVCD, now all I have to do is find some way to write them.

If I may slip in another question... I read some place that movie SVCD's are 480 x 480, but that it is possible to encode still frames at 708 x 480. Apparently it is a function of the MPEG encoder used. Since I am trying to make a SVCD slideshow, the higer resolution would be a real plus.
Thank you! I just downloaded Nero. Have you by any chance seen
step-by-step instructions for going from DVD Pictureshow to SVCD
via Nero?

Check out http://www.vcdhelp.com . You should be able to find the answers to all your questions there.

I have been using DVD Pictureshow and VCD 2 and have been quite happy with the results when viewed on my TV. It centainley looks better than when I connect the camera directly to the TV.

Good luck with your project.

Derald -

Thanks for the input. Question: When you make your VCD's, how do the menu thumbnails look on your TV. Mine are pretty much a blur.

If you don't put too many on the page, you can sort of see them. If you go for the max amount per page, you aren't going to be able to see them clearly enough to make out what they are.
