Does anyone have an opinion as to what they consider a good point & shoot camera that also has a hot shoe mount for an external flash?

I think I'm right at the edge of moving toward an entry level DSLR kit for $699 (olympus or canon). But as a casual user I'd much prefer the fixed lens b/c it will drop the price probably another $200...

The only camera that fits what I'm looking for is the Fujifilm FinePix S9000. However, the price sucks at around $550-600. I might as well shell out the rest of the cash & get the DSLR, hugh?

I was looking at the Panasonic FZ30 and the price tag on the two lens kits from Oly was pretty darn close. I went dslr and have no regrets, however, you can get addicted to getting better glass which can become pricey. I upgraded both of my kit lenses and now love the system I am using. But if you really want a nice long zoom with a hot shoe, look at the Panasonic line.
