Feel free to call this looney!

How about if a company you were interested in (i.e; Olympus) were to offer the chance to front money for R+D would any/many of you be interested.

I was thinking that you would vote with your money for the project you wanted to see come to fruition (e.g 3CCD sensor etc) and then they would issue a closing date and after that they would count your votes and then whichever projects looked financially viable they would ask for a sum of money which they could use which would then be credited against the product when it came to market.
How naive am I!
Let it roll....

that is looney and naive.

i hope that is what you were looking for.

even working for a company does not mean they would listen to you.

just be happy for what is out there.

something new and improved will come down the pike soon enough.

Latest rumor: Disney is buying Oly’s camera division / E400 for the US will resemble Mickey Mouse Face with all the control dials, buttons etc., mounted on the ears. Lenses resemble telescopic Noses.

R & D funds wouldn’t be an issue if Oly moves Headquarters from Tokyo to US – put one minority on staff and seek a government grant!

Or convince the Defense Department that the US military can use 4/3 to some advantage in the fight against terrorism – UNLIMITED FUNDING!

A little trolling / sorry people!

As an engineer in R&D now, that is exactly what happens. BUT instead of asking the people - it is the board (or more often) the investors that have the say. Especially, if it is a private company and not publicly traded.

The key is to make the board/investors more in touch with the desires of the people.
