My anniversary, 2 years on the forum

I am wondering how many folks make it to the two year mark.
Actually, I think there maybe quite a few.
Yes I remember those names you list and others. But then there are
the newer folks. We have a good healthy forum with people on all
areas of the photography learning curve, not to mention folks like
me who are lucky if they can remember how to turn on their camera
from day to day ;-)
I have learnt alot from ALL the contributors as well and this forum is a great resource for all we users. I just hope that I can continue to make a valuable contribution.
I am looking forward to see more of your work over the coming year
and your 3 year anniversary post.
Thanks, Douglas,

Me too, but I am also looking forward to seeing everybody's 1, 2, 3 and more year anniversaries.

Looking forward to read more great posts from you.

Thank you for all of your help, advice, critique, and support that
you have offered to us, your extended family. The only reason that
I would wish to visit Sidney is to have a chance to meet you and
your family (there are other places in Australia that I'd rather
visit, given the opportunity)..
Hi Steven,
Thank you for your very kind sentiments. They are very much appreciated.

It would be fantastic if you could come to Sydney as I would love to meet you also and show you around our lovely city.
All the best,
Lance

You have become one of the wise and knowledgeable contributors to
this forum.
Hi, Jean.

Hmm, I don't know about wise and knowledgeable, but I thank you for the nice sentiments. ;-) I just try my best and hope that I make a positive contribution to the forum.
I still have a long way to go...
It matters not how long, but how much impact. ;-)

My first post was Dec 4 2003 on Pentax SLR talk. I think there were
about 10 of us on here in those days ;)
LOL.

Wow, you're almost up to 4 years!!!! We must have a big party when the big day arrives. I'll have a few celebratory beers for you. ;-)

You have been a great inspiration and source of knowledge for me and I thank you for that. I also hope that you keep contributing ot this forum as you're a great asset.
Have been on DPReview forums in general since I bought my Minnie

You've always been a joy to read and view, and you've never gotten enamoured with your own self-iimportance on this forum.
That, in itself, is refreshing to no end.

Hoping to read (and see) much more.

Cheers

Hey Giorgos,
Wow, when you show it like that it really becomes evident as to how
far LBA has me in it's grip!
Thanks for showing the comparison as I never really thought about
it until now. Oh Dear!

Lance,

Looking at your current list, it's obvious your preference for fast lens. Also noted is your liking for FA.

I apologize if you have already provided reasoning for it, but, is this the result of "natural" selection?

"natural" = after testing: faster is better (quality of glass also better, I presume), manual lens although perhaps just as good not as convenient as FA (willing to pay extra).

Just when you thought it was safe to post some fiction about me.

Lance,

Been too busy to post anything in DPR in months, check out my posting history.

I have NEVER BEEN BANNED FROM THIS FORUM -- a fact!!!

I did change my user name a few times, my choice.

I am still shooting a Nikon [no not a N*kon, a NIKON] D70 with Sigma EX lenses and very happy with the results.

Congrats on your 2 years, I dont know how you find the time.
I have just passed the 2 year mark on the forum. My first post was
July 18th 2004 and here is the embarrassing first post:
http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/read.asp?forum=1036&message=9583084

If you look at the replies to my particular 1st post, some of you
older forum members may recognise the names like:
Wally Oz - now banned from the N*kon D70 forum.
Bruce Dayton - who is still around but does not contribute to the
forum. He has a great web site.
Racehorse in the Desert - who moved to the N*kon D200 for his
wedding photography needs and was a valuable Pentax forum member.
Roland Mabo - Still here, thankfully! :-)
Hugnut - I think he also moved to N*kon and was also banned due to
hi run in with Wally Oz above!
Dan Piddock - He is still around...somewhere
*isteve - still here and coing strong. :-)

Well I apologise if it is fiction. I know it is wrong to assume, but I did assume you were banned after somebody pointed out to me that you were no longer posting.

I will take your word for it.

Is the fact I use the term N*kon relevent?

Hi lance,

It is true that I stopped posting.

The reason, this post by Phil Askey

http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/read.asp?forum=1034&message=18398615&q=gromsky&qf=m

That arrogant post by Phil Askey resulted in a lot of experienced posters leaving DPR for good.

I dont like rules that are not enforced fairly and in an even handed manner.

You yourself have been banned and re-instated, I must say I was surprised at how quickly you got re-instated and have wondered about the cirumstances that led up to your swift re-instatement, come on spill the ebans, did you make a donation or what?

I know why you got banned as I did read your posts before they got pulled and your ban, but I was amazzed at how quickly you got back, less than 24 hours.

I am also amazed at how people are allowed to get away with all the personal attacks with not even a hint of a ban.

In the end I chose to not post on DPR.
