The 30D does have a magnesium housing, which does provide some limited protection from rain & water, however, it does not have the gaskets & seals that the 1DmkII/n & 1DsmkII have. If you are using Series L lenses, then that will offer you some limited moisture barriers from a lens to sensor standpoint. However, as it has been pointed out, I would not intentionally try to splash the 30D. Instead I would rent a 1 series, use some L glass, and let your camera or homeowners insurance policy cover if something were to short out, however, with a 1 series & L glass that is highly unlikely. I have shot with an old EOS 1N & 70-200 that doesn't have gaskets & seals, in a downpouring rain, and I never found moisture anywhere afterwards. Just my 2 cents
