another trip to the mountains

Very nice shot leo..

I'm having a hard time deciding between the two but I think I'm slightly favoring the color version.. Both are very nice though but the blue sky in the background adds something to the shot for me.

Hey Leo,

Actually I like them both. I guess it really depends on the mood your going for. :o)

Yea, I can see why your having a hard time choosing. They are both great on their own, but I think the b&w has more depth and texture. It's a subtle thing though, and would depend on what purpose you may want to use them for.

Thanks Steve, I cant decide which Ilike better either

Warren,

Ahhh, you caught the moon in there. I had a hard time getting it just right, it was either behind one of the branches, or the background or foreground had something distractin in it.

Thanks for the input.

Which of the two shots below, do you like best?, Im having a hard
time deciding.

Exactly the same, except 1 is B&W and 1 is Color

I tend to like the b & W best. More of a stark look but I do like
the color one also especially how the color of the sky changes
(plus the small moon)

Gary,

Thanks, Maybe I'll just use them both.

I like them both, but I would give the nod to the color version since it was such an excellent exposure. The partial moon was a great addition too.

Nicely done!!!!!!!!!!

I think that the b&w version is far better than the color one. The black to gray tones let one concentrate on the subject more than the strong blue background. The b&w one looks almost three dimensional. The tree trunk jumps out of the shot. Very nice!

Hi Leo,

I like them both very much......and as others have said, they both work well depending on what you're after.

But.....I have a strong preference for the color version. The blue brings out the foreground earth tones, and I think the moon is more effective in the color shot.

Best wishes,

David

Which of the two shots below, do you like best?
Leo,

I like the sky color, but even more like the stark mood of the B&W.

However, if you are seeking comments, I personally might prefer a bit of tweaking to lighten the highlights in the tree and give it a little more "punch". Did you convert to B&W with the Photoshop channel mixer? Maybe use a tiny bit more of the red channel? But this is just my personal preference - your's is one that counts!

I think they both look great. And isn't it wonderful to be able to have both! The B&W is really impressive and projects more a sense of isolation, at least to me. Wonder how it would look with just a little tone? I love that blue sky, though. And the moon does show up better in the color one.

Best regards and Peace to you,
Alan

Alan,

Thanks, I am going to play around with the toning, maybe sepia or solenium type or something.

Cheers

Doug - lol

As a non-pro... I also prefer the color version... but the B&W is very nice too... Nice job Leo - my buddy!

Cody :)
Leo,

I prefer the color version. But...I'm not a pro, so what do I know?
