I shot about 1500 pictures with my 30D in super fine (JPEG) mode last week and I need to convert them, en mass, to 1600x1200. I have Irafanview but that does not seem to have the batch resolution conversion function. Are there any other freewares that let you do that?

I have just started to use the DPP software that came with the camera. Before that I tried the batch processing with Digital image Pro and Photoelements. Both of them had problems. Or I had problems getting them to work correctly.

I tried DPP and it went through the entire folder in way less time then Photoelements ever did. Digital Image Pro does not have an automatic batch program. It lets you load a bunch of images and then work on them all at once. But the program can only handle 25-30 at one time. Otherwise it bogs down.
This is not a computer issue, I have an Intell dual thread loaded with memory.

I have been using DPP for the basics and find it works really well.

Just hit the B key to bring up the batch conversion window.

100% RAW processed with Capture One Pro

Both ZoomBrowser (ImageBrowser on Macs) and DPP can do it. Both came with your camera.

You have me confused here.

1. The files is already in JPG format, so what you want to convert to?

2. It sounds like you want to crop or resize to 1600x1200? why change from 3:2 ratio aspect to specific 4:3 ratio? Just wondering.

Well, I love to see you spend time messing up 1500 photos for good lesson ;) so I think many free and shareware graphic viewers have option to manually type in the XXX:YYY to your liking.

I don't know any name of freeware, but I believe shareware like ACDSee may give you the option, and I think Irafanview may do as well (?). A quick way to mess up 1500 photos is what I wana to see ;)

Nelson, I tried Irfanview and do not see how to tell it what size to convert to.

It looks like it is just a type converter? Or am I missing something?

In the batch conversion dialog, check the advanced options box and press "Set advanced options" to bring out another dialog.
Check the RESIZE box and type in the width & height

Thanks Peter
I had never noticed the advanced options.

I just took a look at it. There are a lot of options in there. Irfanview is an incredible program for free.

Thanks again.
