Would it be any D200s (and it's tweaks)?

Nikon seem to have rolled out a few "s" for the upgrade of their current line like:

D70 has D70s
D2H has D2Hs

And now the most recent one is:-

D2Xs from D2X

The current Nikon DSLR in production without is D50 and D200

D200 is quite a good camera around of it's line currently. If Nikon still stick on to their "s" policy. What tweaks they going to roll out in 1 year time, if they decide to give D200 for longr shelve life?

If D200s is a go,
A wishful list I would love to have on D200 tweaks before I make a purcahse.
-170 degree viewable LCD screen like D2Xs and Coolpix S6.

-Better buffer rate, say 30% more

-Larger viewfinder like those in 35mm type. I just hate the APS size viewfinder. It is pain-staking difficult for my eyes to frame the shots, so uncomfortable. Back in old days of film, the 35mm is quite well balance for my eyes viewing. Now it leaves me some eyesore these days.

-Better write speed, say 30% faster.

-Better battery and energy life, although it's still compatible with the old one.

-Better noise control.

-And how about 2.8" LCD. hehehehehe...

Cheers

As others have pointed out, Nikon has a long tradition of rolling out interim upgrades as S models. My very first Nikon was an 8008s, back in the mid-80s - what a great little camera that was. I believe it was Thom who pointed out that recent history has Nikon coming out with S upgrades about 12 to 18 months after the originals came out. So if that's true, you have awhile to wait.

Forgive me if i'm wrong but isn't this the LCD hat the D200 already has? they're standardizing the lcd in the production....

what do you shoot!

The D200 has one of the biggest finders available on digital. Considering we don't have a 35mm frame don't expect a 35mm VF.

I thought it already ranks with the fastest available...
-Better battery and energy life, although it's still compatible
with the old one.
no argument here
-Better noise control.
its already great if used properly. better would be cool.
-And how about 2.8" LCD. hehehehehe...
there goes the better battery life.

Normally I would say not so soon after the introduction of the camera. But if they think they got the banding fixed, then I believe they would definitely put an S at the end of the name.

Other than the cameras with type II and III banding which were clearly defective and fixed by Nikon, Type I banding on the D200 is actually less of an issue than some of the banding and dust problems with the 5d, just as one example of cameras with issues.

However, as far as type I banding internet hype, the D200 wins hands down. Mainly because of all the people who constantly shout about it, some not even owning d200's and never actually having experienced it for themselves.

6 months of ownership, countless superb captures and images sold, and not a single "band" in sight. My SN is less than 6000, I'd say that's a camera without an issue...

Similar to another reply I don't see the value in most of your wish list. If Nikon were to do exactly your list I wouldn't be wanting one.
-170 degree viewable LCD screen like D2Xs and Coolpix S6.
Why? I have no problem seeing my LCD screen. And no need to share it with a crowd of people standing around me.
-Better buffer rate, say 30% more
As mentioned by another, what do you shoot? I don't use the buffer it has now.
-Larger viewfinder like those in 35mm type. I just hate the APS
size viewfinder. It is pain-staking difficult for my eyes to frame
the shots, so uncomfortable. Back in old days of film, the 35mm is

While I may agree, this just isn't going to happen. Not for an APS sized camera. The larger you make that viewfinder the dimmer it will get. Sure I'd like a larger viewfinder. But not at the expense of brightness.
-Better write speed, say 30% faster.
Nope. Don't need it. If I don't fill the buffer up what do I care how long it takes to write. It could take a half hour for all I care.
-Better battery and energy life, although it's still compatible
with the old one.
Nice to have but so what. I don't go trekking in the backwoods for days on end with no power outlet in sight. I can see why others might like this but I'm not bothered by it.
-Better noise control.
This is one item I definitely would like to see. But, since an "s" model is not going to have a new sensor in it I also see this as highly unlikely.
-And how about 2.8" LCD. hehehehehe...
Don't need it.
