Sony promotes its "Clear RAW NR (Noise Reduction) image processing technology", but the w/s specs show that the H2 and H5 save photos only in JPEG formats. Can anyone shed light on what the reference really means?

Is it just me, or does it seem that Sony might be trying to confuse buyers into thinking there's some RAW capability in the camera?

Many thanks,

It's just Sony's name for their noise reduction.

Maybe...maybe not. I wouldn't think that they would. Just think of all the cameras being returned by people who clearly thought it meant something different.

Just a guess, but I believe the name indicates, that the noise reduction is done before converting the data to JPEG.

That is correct.
