I've read through the reviews and think I am down to the a620. This will be my first digital. I have a Rebel Film SLR and LOVE the picture quality and zoom ability. I use mostly the auto settings. I want a digital for convenience, and developing savings. I take mostly pictures of my toddler indoors. Price is a concern which is why I don't think I'm ready for DRebel. Video does not matter to me.

I am concerned about shutter speed and the E18 error.

Convince me to buy the A620 or another camera that costs less than the 620...

The a620 was my camera of choice after doing my research on this site (reviews and posts) and on countless other review sites also.
I don't regret choosing the a620 at all.

In fact i'm more convinced now after a month or so that I made the right desicion.

Purchasing my a620 has reignited my interest in photography again, Because it is so easy to get really good results with little photographic knowledge

I purchased the A610 last December over the A620 for several reasons. These are the opinions given by another review:

"The A610 performs better in low light situations than the A620, so there's less noise and you can use faster shutter speeds or smaller apertures.

Also, because the A620 has more noise, it uses more aggressive noise reduction, which reduces detail somewhat. This becomes noticeable in ISO settings higher than 50.

The higher saturation level of the A610 means a higher dynamic range, in practice highlights shouldn't get clipped as fast on the A610 as they would on the A620. So in bright light situations it should also perform better.

Apart from that the A610 functions a bit faster (shot to shot) because the 5MP images take less time to process than the A620's 7MP ones and of more of those smaller images will fit on a memory card.

In short, the A620 is a good choice if you want to crop or do very large prints (A610 images can be printed somewhat larger than A4 size), the A610 is nice if you want light-sensitivity (or a slight increase in shooting speed)."

Besides these reasons mentioned, the cost difference then was substantial ($100). Now, since it is under $30 the choice would be more difficult since I do print 20X30.

You really can't go wrong with the A620.

The price is low now so it is a good buy.

I find it great indoors ... for kids etc. because it focuses very fast. Auto mode works well and you will get great color etc.

There are plenty of adjustments as far as exposure/black and white/shutter speed etc. to make the camera interesting and fun when you do have the time to play around.

I bought an A620 several months ago. I loved my G3 and was hoping to get a G7, but Canon didn't cooperate.

I tried the A610 and the A620 and as a amateur couldn't tell the difference in the shots. I figured I might as well get the newest technology. I am happy that I did and have not had any problems with the camera so far and I have shot a couple of thousand photos.
