Well, I don't make travel arrangements through my butcher, nor would I care to get photographic advice from a PC Magazine.

Similarly poor reviewing can be found in a number of camera magazines, to be really fair. Not to mention the internet (digitalcamerainfo.com comes to mind).

Just some PC mag dweeb... I am sorry but the DS2 is nowhere close to a bad product it has a slightly high price tag but that is it...

If there going to rate it bad for being a very minor update to a good product they better leave spaces 9 and 10 for the D70s and the 30d.

Well then it's a good thing that you're not a reviewer.

Look at this comparison for a pretty good list of the changes between the 20D and the 30D. Many of the differences are subtle but they do make a huge difference to the photographer:

And you have what add up to a pretty substantial set of changes although it may not be immediately obvious how many changes have been made because the only ones that most people that glance at the specs talk about are the spot meter and the LCD screen size. However, pick up the camera and even before you hold it to your eye some of the changes are obvious.

PCMAG is clueless, I have a DS2 that works great with all my lenses including 6x7 lenses with adapter and Pentax PF-80 ED spotting scope. With Sandisk Extreme III SD card it's super fast and I just love the images I get from it.

KM with better ergonomics than the D series? Uh, I don't think so. I don't think it's even close. Further, i wouldn't hold my breath waitiing for an 8D......

The so-so
result right from the camera JPEG is exactly what it is when
reviewing it against competetions like the Oly E-500 or Canon
EOS-350D.

I just sold $3K+ worth of Canon EOS 20D & Rebel XT to switch to Pentax. During the past 11 years with canon I have never been able to get pictures as good as what I'm getting with Pentax. I'd have to go back to the 80's with my old Nikon equipment to see such good shots.

Anyway, I'm not sure why anyone is bothering to comment on a review by someone who is clearly unqualified.

Its a PC magazine for heavens sake!

Who cares what they say about a camera since even their PC reviews
are fairly worthless and they supposedly know something about them.
If you find their opinion important, then possibly you should check
what the people at the local Best Buy think, since they actually
sell cameras, although not Pentax DSLR's.

The last time I read PC Mag was when Dvorak did a hatchet job on the original PowerMac. Computer magazines are about as interesting as camera magazines. Replace megahertz with megapixels and there you have it.

If I want insight into cameras, I'll ask a real photographer, not some pixel peeper with charts.

i did and the guy that started this thread did too, i think.

apprently, the person doing the reivews seems to be tasked with cameras. he also did the latest Oly e330 review. sad.

I didn't realize there were body and FPS changes on the 30d and IMO that is substantial I stand corrected on that model.
