**CTF Challenge 104 -Winner's Thread**

OK, I'm up for it... and the topic is "Vertically challenged".

We're all familiar with stitched panoramas... I'm challenging you to submit stitched vertical images. So take and stitch together multiple shots of your subject - which should have an obvious vertical subjct or perspective. You can hold the camera in either portrait or landscape fashion but the resulting image must be taller than it is wide. That means you need to stitch a minimum of two shots in portrait fashion, or a minimum of 3 shots in landscape fashion to get the proportions I'm looking for. I have some examples for the gallery title images but would appreciate someone else setting it up please ?

Resulting images are likely to be large so please make sure you compress them before uploading to the gallery.

Is that enough for now ? I'll go and prepare the title images now...

I'm with Britt on this one. Don't know how to stich nor interested to learn. But wish you guys all the best in this challange.

Hi Rose :)

Just to mention that we had a similar vertically themed challenge topic but without the stitching part.
http://www.pbase.com/ctfchallenge/c58_vertical

Stitching makes this somewhat more complicated for more than a few folks here. Especially if it involves wide angle stitches. 3rd party software comes to mind because it's a pain in Photoshop.

A hint though, when shooting for the intent of stitching. The exposure must be locked, then the shots taken. Same for white balance, set it to manual.

It sounds terribly complicated and time-consuming to stitch those shots together...and I know without even looking that I have absolutely nothing on my HD for Exhibition. Good luck to all, but I think I'll probably sit this one out. Well, maybe I'll try one....

A thread to the new challenge. If yes, where is it, can't find it.

I'm ready with my camera to take a pic of Rod when he reads the topic of this C. His reaction will be so big (vertically) that I have to make a stich photo out of it, ha ha.

I love to take photos more than sitting hours in prep. a stich, which I have not done before, and which I am not that eager to learn either. So, I'm very sorry, but I will join those sitting this one out either...

is out shooting vertical pano shots as we speak ;)
But then again, not sure if rod is up to multi tasks like us girls :)

Actually I am better at horizontal panos than vertical plus not much interesting here to shoot vertical.

Maybe next weekend when I go out west, I can try......
else I will jsut sit this one out too and watch the pro's at it.

I'm with you Armin. The CTF challenge is about photography not Photoshop/ computer skills.

Very funny Rose, that got us all going into a tizzy. Now wot's the real topic?

As you can see from the reaction above stitching isn't wot we talented, advanced, serious amateur picy takers indulge in, so sit down have a strong cup of tea & give us a proper photographic topic.

I have trouble downsizing me amazingly detailed awesome shots to 140K so we have no chance of downsizing a silly stitch.

So far this has been a great start & I'm really looking forward to four days off & taking picys without having to stitch em together, I would rather be darning socks than stitching.
So please Rose don't make Jock look like a good choice as host:-)
Wot's the new topic then Rose?:-)
Regards Rod

Now that would make an excellent picture !!! and a multi task with socks and needle/thread ! (your Mrs would be proud)

I've tried some stitching in horizontal shots, but seem to never get it quite right. I'm not sure if I'd be any better in vertical. Not that I'm saying I won't try.... :) jano

I'm with you Rod. It's like asking a painter arrrrtiisst to build a conves instead of painting a painting.

Eager to see wot the new topic was:-) I'm now on me third cuppa tea & staring blankly at the screen awaiting me orders as to wot shots to take:-)
How would you get a drop shadow on a silly stitch:-)

Are you getting ready for your beauty sleep Sue Anne? Get hubby one more beer & off you go:-)
Regards Rod

It's more like asking an Ahrtiiiiiiiiiist to build two canvasses & then stitch them together. I'd rather be bleeding painting:-)

Easy for drop shadows but I am not really into vertical panos as horizontal is hard enough (but the challenge only lets less than 150K so lots of detail is lost)

It's only 4:30 pm not 10 pm ;)
and hubby will be out in the fields plowing soon

Keep the tea going ! :)))
