I'm looking at new memory stick media for my DSC-P200, figuring that the woefully small sticks I have now (256mb, 128mb) can be used solely for my larger DSC-F707.

My two questions for folks here:

With Sony, the largest memory stick is a 2gb, and information I have is that it is compatible with the DSC-P200 (but not the 707). Any experience?

With third-party sticks -- particularly SanDisk -- they have a 4gb that trumps Sony's in terms of price. But SanDisk cautions on their website that DSC-P200 may be able to only take sticks with capabity of 2gb or less. Any experience using (a) a 4gb SanDisk stick or (b) the SanDisk 2gb stick with the DSC-P200?

I searched and didn't see similar strings on this. Any user experiences would be much appreciated! Thanks...

I would Email SanDisk and check, but I do not see why the 4GB would not work and the 4GB would (on a P200). Yes, On older cameras that do NOT accept MemoryStick Pro cards, they would not work, but since the only difference is the size (both are Pro), it should work fine....again double check with SanDisk

Plus they probably only upgrade the compatibility when the camera is origially released.

Don't Forget, get Duo cards (w/adapter) since all Sony's soon will only accept duo smaller size cards (adapter will let you use it today with the P200, and then if you ever upgrade, you are still safe (if you stay with the Sony cameras/format)

Great counsel on the "duo" cards...many thanks! I hadn't thought of that...

I'll also check with SanDisk -- although, my experience is that counsel along these lines is better in the forums here than from some "help desk" located somewhere in the world!

Thanks again...

No direct experience, but Sandisk says on their website the P200 has a 2GB Max limit.

But with 4GB at $100 or less, I'm itching to get one for the PSP and try it out in the P200...
