How does the Sigma and Tamron 18-200 stack up against the Nikon 18-200

I am buying a D200 and want to buy 18-200 to go with it. How big of a compromise I will make if I buy the Sigma or the Tamron? Anyone actually use them?

I know that I am. Need it before Apr 18.
Might have to pay close to $1K for it.

I bought the tamron, and I was pretty happy, I had called it already my vacation lens. The kit lens 18-70 was better as expected.

Then nikon announced the 18-200vr, so I decided to buy it, tried them both and compared. The 18-200vr is much sharper than the tamron, as expected, but it costs double the price - and its much bigger.
