I waited a little over a week for my new FZ30 to be delivered to my house and today fed-ex shows up with the box here I am like a little kid opening a new toy and when when my mom brought me the box I said to myself it felt a little light. I thought circuirt city just sent the memory card and the new camera case and when I opened it up there was the camera box it the big brown box but no camera someone was nicer enough to take the camera/owners manual and all other stuff that was there. I said what the He-l I was totally suprised some a--hole took everything on me and rewrapped everything and sent it on.I dont know if this helps I still have the FZ30 box with the serial number(A6SS00098 R)if by chance some tries you or someone you know(maybe 1 in a 1,000,0000) dont buy it is a stolen camera.well I get to wait again circuit city is shipping out another one I hope circuit city/Fed-ex finds that S O B. It really stunk now i have to wait again.

God Bless and have a great day

Sorry to hear about that. I ordered me an FZ30 yesterday(friday) from 6th ave. electronics and do not expect it until about friday of this coming week. I hope this does not happen to me. Did Circuit city hassle you any before they sent you another one?

No not all I know I paid a little more then other places but to me it is peace of mind just in case of returning it or just like happened here they said they were going to reship the complete order right away and fed-ex is looking into also they think it had to have happen while in the delivery stage with fed-ex.

God Bless and have a great day

at least CC is making it right & another few days wait beats having to jump through all the hoops you would've had to jump through if they put up a fight if they thought you were pulling a fast one....
That reminds me.. I still have a CC gift card left over from XMas to blow....

A Fedex or Circuit City employee

I have a cell phone stolen the same way, UPS determined that it was an inside job by one of their own truck loaders.

What a rip-off! I'm glad that CC will make good without a hassle.

A note of caution to anyone planning to buy a "used" out-of-box FZ30 from eBay or any other such source. Check that Serial Number. It may be a "hot" camera.

Is there any way they can finger-print the inner box and check against employees? For example: FedEx employees who handled the box in shipping - their finger-prints should NOT appear on inner box or wrapping materials. Just a thought.

I suppose it's a miracle that more stuff isn't pilfered in shipping.

So THAT'S why I keep all those camera boxes? So, when I want to sell the used camera, it will have the box with matching S/N, manual, charger, cables, accessories, etc. that came with it.

Hope your replacement FZ30 comes soon.

**** Stevens, FZ30, FZ20, FZ7, etc.

You would think that maybe fedex could determine when this occurred by tracking the weight of the item and knowing at what location it changed by over a pound. Bob.

That is exactly what i was thinking by seeing when the box came up short on weight cc thinks and so does fed_ex that it was a fed-ex employee because the way the box was rewrapped it was done in a big hurry well the fed-ex person I spoke to seemed pretty sure that they will be able to track down who did it. I quess no matter where I ordered it from it would have took a walk. I sometimes think the smaller places like beach camera would not be as fast to go ahead and reship the order they would probably want an investigation done first before replacing the complete order I am just glad cc is giving me no hassell at all. now it just a wait for it again.

This morning I just got off the phone with CC to find out my new order number and they told me they did not have a new order number yet that someone will call me before the end of the week with all the new information they said they need to contact fed-ex first to trace the package I told CC we are know where the package is we just dont know where the contents of the packages are.I then told them why did they tell me saturday when it happened they were reshipping the package right away and they did not say it was going to be a week or so before it gets reshipped. Hopefully they said they will reship the complete order before the weenend comes. I did tell them I was very peaved at the whole situation an I hope they reship the package over night or 1st or 2nd air so I dont have to wait another week or weekand a half. In so many words I am peaved I just want my camera.

well just got off the phone again to find out what is going on and I was told they will be contacting me by thursday afternoon. I told them I needed the camera by this weekend for a family function that is why I ordered it a week and a half ago and If I dont have it by this weekend CC is going to have one irate customer on there hands. also I told them I am paying finance charges on my credit card for something I am not using nor do i have. that alone gets my onions twisted. I told them if I am not going to have the camera buy the weekend to keep the whole order and I will purchase it else where.

Reminds me of thread a year ago by a Canadian who had
ordered a Canon 1DsMkII from B & H and when he opened
the parcel it was filled with paper sheets!

Well, please don't laugh, but I bought the FZ5 shortly after
and set up my Panny camcorder on a tripod and
filmed my opening the box just in case I would need
evidence.

Having witnesses isn't a bad idea either.

I hope it works out for you and you in time
get the camera you paid for.

Major bummer, sorry to hear that. The closest thing I had to that was a few months ago, I ordered a new CPU and 1G memory for my computer. I checked the status while at work, then finally it showed delivered at 2:00pm. When I got home, there was no package at my door. I was very angry. I was 100% sure some punk stole it from my doorstep. The next day, a stranger appears at my door with a package for me. He lived on another street, but had the same house number. I was very gratefull. I can't remember if it was UPS or Fedex that delivered it to the wrong house.

so... what ultimately happened? you can't just post that and drop it so quickly! ;)

I HAVE TO LAUGH.

;) ;)

but the thought HAS ocurred to me, as well. don't get me started - I've had a recent bit of bad luck with the mail and even ebay shippers (sigh).

use both. open the box in front of a notary (would that help? not sure, but it wouldn't hurt) ;)

Sorry. :) Here you are, one of those rare occations when the search
function delivered for me:

http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/read.asp?forum=1000&message=11440847

Seems it might not have been a MkII, but he was still down US$13000.

He ended up ordering another one (from another vendor?) and - yes! -
filmed it while opening, also making sure he had lots of witnesses.
I think he may also have bribed the delivery service to wait for his
opening the box before he signed the receipt.

I can't recall whether B&H honoured his request in the end.

He's a French speaking Canadian, so his English was a bit off, hurting
his credibility on DPR. There were a few bits of his story that weren't
100 % consistent. But his agony felt very genuine. I'm not sure
myself who to believe actually.

A horror story it is anyway...

I ordered a PC last year and after twice taking time off work for deliveries that never showed up I phoned them to say they could keep their computer. Then I bought one elsewhere.
Sure felt good telling them that.

Found out later my PC had been standing in a warehouse without delivery because the shipping notes had got detached from the package and were lying on the floor of the warehouse next to it.

Hope you get a new delivery quickly Joseph, but if not – telling them what to do with their order (and stopping the charge on your credit card) will make you feel better!

Yesterday I took a picture of Elvis...
to the shop for an enlargement.

I have to say I have my doubts about the poster's
credibility.

It's still good advice though, to make sure, if possible,
you aren't signing for an empty box.

Had airline tickets priority delivered by Fedex. Waited two days, never showed up. Called the travel agency, who contacted Fedex, who said they had been delivered on time. Went home, searched the entire house (and neighborhood), no tickets. Called again, Fedex was called again, and they said they'd send their driver out to search. Well, when I went home that night the tickets were under my doormat - right where my wife and kids and I had checked three times.

So, the driver probably put them under some one elses doormat, where they'd been sitting undetected until he went back out. What makes me mad is that the driver claims it was delivered on time, and never admitted to the mistake. Not the only time this has happened with Fedex - in my neighborhood UPS is much better.
