D200 RGB profile not read

Hi there,

I have had the D200 for about a month now and used it quite extensively. I first noted a problem with a lot of the images produced being really flat.

Unfortunately I was out in the "bush" and so had no resource to delve into. But the crux of the matter is that in Capture 1 pro, some images are read with their RGB profile from the camera, and some are not.

The RGB images are really punchy and look great- just as I would expect, but the ones without the profile are really flat and dull.

For example: in a ten shot sequence of a subject, perhaps three images will be loaded in c1Pro with their RGB profile- the other 7 will not.

I can assign the profile to the other images, but this shouldnt be nessessary at all.

I m not changing settings or fiddling with images in between shots- some of the images are shot within the same second.

In the images that have no RGB reading, the ICC colour profile bar is greyed out- so that I cant adjust any colour profile to the image- only when I assign a profile froma nother image, does it open up.

Its Quite perplexing and I cant really figure it out right now.

Any help will be appreciated.

Kind regards,

Shem

Shem,

The D200 isn't "officially" supported by Capture One at the moment (3.7.3), even though the "beta" profile is in there.

I'm running it on a Mac and it defaults to a Canon ICC profile which gives very dull looking images, but just selecting all the thumbnails the choosing the right ICC profile does the job.

It should work properly in 3.7.4.

Thanks Jez,

Im also running it on mac at the mo. I guess will ahve to wait for the proper version then and until then add the extra step into the workflow.

What I fing confounding though, is that it "reads" the profile for one image and then not the next.

any the problem comes when it dosent produce a profile for an imagea t all- then the image is really difficult to pull out.

To see what capture produced for a D200 image, I tried an Auto colour correction and hue/tint on a few pics! MAn does it get it wrong! I cant wait for the proper version...

Regards,

Shem

:-) Yeah, I had a shock when I first loaded up some D200 NEFs! Anway, if you assign the right profile before you start editing then you should be OK - just a couple of clicks and everything looks like it should....
