VR Lens for D50

Hi folks,

Are there ant difference in the VR performance with D50 cameras (comparing with D70 and D200)?

Especially, is the new 18-200 suited for the D50? Is the difference between the Sigma and Tamron equivalents that big to justify twice the price?

as far as I know, VR is only dependent on the lens, and not the body.

VR is pretty darned amazing IMO.

I bought the Nikkor 18-200 VR and it is the only VR lens I own.

I had the VR switched off and went out this AM and at 200mm (300 effective) wow it was shaky until I remembered I had that little VR switch and it makes all the difference handheld.

Is it worth the extra $300? I'd say yes.

Hi yaklein,

Having tried/returned the Sigma version when I first bought my D50 and now perfectly satisfied with the Nikon VR, I can strongly say yes, it is worth the price difference.
