This will set your mind at ease and will ensure your warranty remains valid so a good idea.

BTW, I notice your sig pic is a mirror shot. Why not flip the horizontal using any photo package? We are not used to seeing our beloved D70 back to front. (I've done the same myself!)

Hope you get the cam back soon with a clean bill of health!

I've did something similar to mirror on my D700 and accidentally dropped on it tool for removing the focusing screen and touched the mirror while picking up the tool from it. I've cleaned it with dry & soft microfibre cloth. Before this procedure I cleaned the mirror from dust particles with blower. After that I cleaned it very, very gently with the cloth. I've read on internet that it's better to apply low amount of izopropyl(or very clean alcohol) on the cloth and clean the mirror by this way, but my mirror is OK after dry cleaning too. Now it's clean without any scratches and fingerprints. I've inspected mirror on my D700 more times with magnifying and didn't find any flaws after cleaning. The surface is uniform, shiny, no scratches and in viewfinder is everything OK. If you want clean your mirror do it, but do it very, very gently with very soft cloth and apply on it very low amount of very clean alcohol and you will be OK. If some smudges remain try to clean it with more dry cloth than was at the first cleaning :-) Remember to not apply to much pressure on your mirror!

Wish you good luck and good light :-)

What do you mean "just don't use to wet q-tip?

"--If you have lens cleaning fluid than you can use q-tip with this and clean up don worry it just a mirror.Just don't use to wet q-tip.
