Finally, I used my Sunpak flash to take this shot of my wife. Setting was manual with bounce ceiling flash. The photo was brightened and a little contrast added and then resized down to 640 - 280 - 72. Maybe it is a little too large, but I am sending it on anyway for criticism.

Thanks for looking. I am not a flash person in photography...always have hated it in my past photography B&W life. Don't like it any better now. Any criticism will be appreciated.

Your portrait photo looks good. Maybe soften the light with a fill reflector to control the contrast. Add a hair light to add dimension. Separate the model from the background with a darker background.

in the corrected version of Yehuda even better. How is Barbara now?(Have been away from the forum for a couple of weeks,in my next post you will read why )

My best regards,

Walter

and a very nice pose. I didn't see much wrong with the skintones - a tinge of yellow from the walls, maybe, but nothng serious. I didn't see the original, but I'm not sure I would have added any contrast. I think softer and less contrasty is usually more complimentary to faces.

Anyway, I ran the picture through PSP X's one-step fix and applied some selective softening with the softening brush and came up with this result. Just another suggestion...

Excellent, Yehuda...just what I asked for. Now I can go to my PS5 or Adobe workshop and see if I can duplicate what you have done.

Just had a nice long telephone conversation with Mike. He called me just about half hour ago telling me that he had lightened up Barb's skin tones and I must say it is giving me a better insight on skin tones. I know very little about PS except what I learn by trying now and then.

I've seen the photo of you and Mike and the one of you that Mike took with his camera. Very well done. It is nice to see friends together.

Thanks for your reply and your input on my photo of Barb. Feel free to work on any of my photos and let me know what PS procedures you have done with them.

All the best, and God bless.

Barb is holding up pretty well so far. Of course this is only the first week of five weeks and then a stay in hospital aftwards. Thanks for your kind words of concern...we both appreciate them.

I didn't get your picture Jerry. I know I should have had a lot of things done to change the setting, but when we were taking the photos we had company and no time for anything else other than just shooting when the opportunity presented itself.

I have received a few good suggestions along with yours and I will try to remember them later on when I try portraiture again. The desire to use a camera these days is pretty well shot as we have quite a lot of things that need attention until Barb is over this radiation period.

Thanks for your reply Jerry. Appreciated as always.

Hello, Awais. Thanks for your reply asking about Barbara. This is only the first week of radiation and still four more to go. Things will pretty much slow down here with us since we will, in essence, be two invalids trying to look after each other, but we will get through it: we both are sure of that.

I won't be on STF very much over the next month or so. Hopefully I will be back on again when things settle down.
