D200 vs 20D (several images)

High ISO in daylight? What is the point? It appears this photographer lacked the skills to talk his model into going into a low-light situation. :-)

And I just can't trust anything like this where all the Nikon shots are with just one lens and all the Canon one as well. You need a variety of pro glass to show that lens build is not affecting the results.

Whether the D200 is really this much better than the Canon I don't know, but I think there is proof here that the D200 can perform excellently in daylight.

Right now it is banding and mid-ISO noise that I'm most interested in.

Having currently owning a 20D, I usually have my sharpening at +1 because it is naturally soft. But I do have to say I like it that the D200 has more color saturation and the detail still remains very sharp.

From what I have seen the noise at high iso is quite acceptable.

Can't wait to get mine in the mail. :)

What were the variables here?I don't read chinese.I thought this comparison was easier to understand

No doubt on it, the new D200 beats the old Canon 20D. :)

In this tests (one has no idea how they are done) D200 is bit sharper, have a bit better contrast and have a little more noise in the high-ISO shots - nothing surprising. Whats most striking to me is how close they are in the colors and overall appearence. So much for talk about "Canon-colors" and "Nikon-colors" - at least out of the cameras the differences are tiny. I am sure the photos from both cameras here could be improved quite a lot with PP.

It is unlikely that both camers produced roughly identical colors like this without some adjusting of the raw files.

It doesn't look like a test for best color balance, so they may have made the colors as identical as possible to better isolate saturation, contrast and sharpness. I can't read the page, so these are assumptions. But they are just as likely- if not more likely- than your conclusion about color symmetry.

I came to the same conclusion

here D200 looks really better. I did a quick play in PS and even then D200 looks better.

But this is just low iso samples. At high iso Canon 20D is still better!
