Burma and Cambodia - using D2x (pics)

GREAT shots, they are beautiful. I went to Cambodia in June. If you shot that monk at Angkor Wat, he is probably the same guy I have pictures of from there, albeit not as artfully composed as yours. go to my site at http://www.spitfirephoto.us - cambodia image gallery. click on the monk one and let me know if you think its the same guy.

that would be quite a coincidence if it was.

Lovely!

I'm in Cambodia and Laos in a few weeks, after seeing your shots I want to go now

Some easily magazine-worthy shots here. I especially liked #2 and #3. I need to travel. Cheers,

The camera handles beatifuly - everybody knows it.

Very flexible AF system - I mean 9 cross sensors - was surprisingly useful for dynamic shots composing. Previosly I had bad habit of using only central AF sensor (D70 tradition) - and now no need to recompose! Very cool for moving subjects.

Size. Could be lighter and smaller for travel. In Asia my 6 feet 5 inches looked noticeable already so it did not scare subjects - but it could in some other locale in someone's other hands. In Angkor Wat local authorities were suspicious that I was commercial shooter - but my Russian origin somehow calmed them.

But image quality really does compensate for this annoyance. The following image had to be pulled one stop in the upper right corner and pushed two stops in the lower left to compensate for huge dynamic range of the scene - so 3 extra stops are here. It prints beautifully at 13 by 19 inches.

Almost dropped my jaw when I saw your images! Holy cow! Especially the one with the silhuette is great. Some of the shots are really Nat Geographic'ish - quality shines through. Hmmh, where again was my passport, got to travel somewhere :)

keep up the good work!

Judgement comes from experience, experience comes from poor judgement.

Would love to hear more about the lenses you used for the different shots.

PS

Yes the D200 thing is a little nuts. Nice to remember it is the subject and photographer and not so much about the equipment.
