::: Reperat geometry p2 :::

Hi, Bill...

You're the best to be willing to help me. After thinking about it for a while, I decided to take my laptop to NYC and attempt to keep up with the job myself now that I'm hooked on the process. This may be the first mini-challenge conducted from a Starbucks ;o}

If it doesn't work out, you'll know because entries will sit there unacknowledged for more than a day! In the meantime, you may be able to save your energy for the next time YOU win.

Now I'm starting to obsess about how to choose winners. I'm no judge because I haven't been involved for long, but it seems to me that there are many, many excellent shots. Boo-hoo for me.

Hi, Lev...

Check out yours and the other submissions to date in the CTF Mini-Challenge #93 Repeat Geometry at
http://www.pbase.com/patsysj/mini1

Open Your Hearts--good title, nice depth of field, good aspect with the line of Bleeding Hearts leading us diagonally to the right, and then back in a circle with the smaller branch. Lovely.

Snow--Nice repetition. I like the sunlight on the wood surface.

Lines--The wll-placed workers with their bright vests give scale and interest to this image with its strong diagonals and the T shapes of the light poles.

I'll say this to everyone: Consider the source of these comments; they're the functional equivalent of the old 'I don't know much about art but I know what I like.'

... I don[t have to judge this one...

My first (ever) entries in a dpreview challenge…

Image #1:

A Barn built by my grandfather in the province of Värmland, western Sweden. The circular spot in the upper part of the image is what some people interested in the supernatural would call a “spirit orb”, i.e. what most photographers would call a “dust particle illuminated by the flash”…

Image #2:

1961 Plymouth at the 2005 “Power Big Meet” in Västerås, Sweden. Claimed to be (one of?) the greatest American car shows in the World with up to 10.000 cars.

Image #3:

Well… I think you recognize this one ;-). The geometrical seed pattern on the strawberries is also repeated in the printed pattern on the bowl, although this may be hard to see in this downsized picture…

Images only resized and sharpened.

Patsy,

I agree with you that there a number of wonderful images (a product of your excellent Challenge topic) and that you have a daunting task ahead of you. My advice to you is don't worry about your judging capabilities. Go with your heart. Pick that image that you like best.

Bill

Patrik,

Nice choices for your first entries. They exhibit a good eye for seeing interesting patterns. Welcome to our community. Hope you enjoy it as much as most of us do.

When I win this challenge (I mean if,......I keep forgetting to be humble) I will promise to pretend there were better shots than mine in the challenge. I don't know wot happens to me shots when they're uploaded cos they look really awesome when I enter them & when they open up in the challenge they only look terrific.

Sue Anne, drop shadow frames are for girls only as they look really silly on a real blokes picy. It has nothing to do with the fact that I don't know how to do them.

Do you reckon you could tell me how to do them? But tell any of the other posters especially Jim as they will laugh at me:-)
Regards Rod

Your entry is almost as good as mine, I haven't looked up wot Geometric Patterns mean yet so I can't comment on whether they're on topic or not. The water drops & lights are really well done & the composition & exposure on the lights is spot on (well for a girl)

Did you do the third one with the painting by light thingy? I suppose it gives you something to do when you're bored a:-) Great entry megirl.
Regards Rod

Bill, would you believe that they've started to CHARGE for people to use wireless in Starbucks in NYC? Yikes, I'm forgetting about that idea. I'm sending this from my daughter's work computer. Back to my original request: if you would monitor, and quell any disturbances, I would appreciate it. Next Monday p.m. I will comment on any submissions that don't have feedback, and I'll post the images to my pBase. Then after it closes on Tuesday, I'll judge and be done.

Thank you so much for helping me out.

LOL if you can read this, them I am sure Jim and the others are also reading this but wot you surprise them when you have your nice 'blokey' pic with a drop shadow? ;)

First I have to know what is your pp program that you are using? As I use Photoshop Elements 3.0 or Photoshop CS...... then maybe I can help you :)

In any case, you put out some nice pictures for a bloke.....

Thanks Rod :)

The third picture is taken of my son's toy. It's a "Hover Copter" a dealie bobber that is remote control that is round, has lights on the outside and spins around and flies up into the sky. You can somewhat control where it flies, so I had some son fly it slowly upward while I did an extended exposure on it, in the dead of night in my daddy's backyard. (It was REALLY cold too!)

So it is all TOY. :)
