New Pentax Website?

I've actually been impressed with Pentax' advertising over the last month or two - at least locally. Half of all bus-shelters here have monster sized adverts. Okay, the SLR on those adverts is a DS as opposed to a DS2 or DL - but at least the brand is being put out there a bit.

I even got an email from them last week pushing the slr site.
Surprised me!

The top banner on the main page does open correctly, but the side banner for the istDS in the forum page opens in itself, the Optio one is fine..

For those interested in a black limited lens it appears you can order them through this site. However, the prices are only in USD and the rebates are only for US addresses so it is probably of no use to me in the UK.

That is one of the cleanest photo sites I've seen, very, very nice and professional.

Not the usual Pentax web site I'm use to. Their old web site looks like fudge on a stick, it is bad ....... this one looks very nice, I'm surprised and pleased.

I just noticed this being advertised on the front page of DPReview.
Is it new? I don't remember hearing about this website before. Does
it seem like Pentax is picking up on the advertising?

Someone posted about it several days ago but it is a new site.

It looks like Pentax have really started their marketing push. I just wish they'd done it a year ago prior to the release of the *ist DS but at least they're getting into the act now.

Hopefully they will also concentrate on winning shelve space in the stores so that prospective customers can handle their products side by side with the competition. Had they been able to do that with the DS they would have had a lot more buyers.

Anyway it’s good to see Pentax addressing their problem areas.

Good looking site, but some bugs to be worked out, like the FAQ's(some stuff I did not know here), you have to click on the site map to get to them and the purchase body online that kicks you back to the start page. And why not put all the lenses on the site, someone unfamiliar with Pentax would think these are the only lenses currently avalaible. I also wish they had put the D and the DS on here too, since they are still being sold in some parts and they are DSLR's. But definitly an improvement over the Petnax site.

You can order via B&H, okay you won't get a rebate, but B&H prices are less than the rebated Pentax ones.

Expect a delay in supply though, B&H have a waiting list, and they will debit your card upon ordering, not when shipped, which is the standard practice over here in the UK, but not the USA. But B&H are a very reliable supplier with integrity.

If you click on "Purchase" and then on "SLR lenses", the whole range of lenses comes up - even those who is claimed to be "discontinued". FA* 28-70 f/2.8 and others... Even the old (Tamron made) FA 28-105 f/4-5.6. And if you click on the film SLR's, the MZ-S (discontinued in 2002) and ZX-M comes up... Do they still have some leftovers?

Take care
