I am going to sell my 880. I need external flash and more manual possibilities to get fully pleased. Now, why should I choose 995 and not the G2? pls, advice me! I really want to choose the 995 because the rest of my equipment is Nikon (F100+lenses and Coolscan) but I can't overlook that the G2 have got a hot-shoe, cordless remote, possibility to remote capture and audio to the video clips - all included.
Thanks!
Johan

A net cost of about $550 after rebate when purchased from buydig
seems a pretty compelling argument to me.
(But then, I just got my 995 last Friday.. I'm biased)

Yes I can understand that. Strange, because we have to pay

$998 for G2 and $927 for 995 here in Sweden. You may understand my question better now...

How to get that rebate? and is it safe to order it there from abroad?

Johan,

Unless you engaged in some subterfuge, you probably cannot get
the rebate. I think it is for the US market only.
With someone like Adorama, you would be safe ordering, but then you
will likely have warranty issues with what NikonEuro might regard as a
'grey markey' camera.

I'm in the same boat in that I've had my 880 for a year now. After some reflection, I've decided to stay with the 880 for another year. Here's why:

--I've bought many Coolpix accessories (wide angle, tele, etc) to expand the CP880's range of possiblities.

--I bought the DigiSlave 2000 Pro from SR Electronics. You might want to consider this if the main reason you're considering an upgrade is lack of a hotshoe. This flash works quite well.

--True, the CP880 only has two choices for setting for aperature. While this is a weakness, I believe that the situations where I'd want to select something between the extreemes would not be all that common.

--I don't think there is anything in this price range (CP995 to G2) that would offer a significant increase in overall image quality. Maybe in a year this will change when we see more offerings in => 5MP resolution cameras.
