A couple questions for any owner of any of the newer Canon cameras with USB2, especially the A610, A620, S2is, or S80...

(someone else asked about this months ago but never got an answer)

1. How fast can you continuously capture pictures via remote capture from a computer at the highest resolutions --can you shoot as fast as 1 picture per second or faster, or slower? (I'm assuming a fast computer with USB 2 also that can keep up with the camera: I just want to know how much the USB 2 on the new cameras actually helps, if at all).

2. Is the "focus lock" feature still available for these models (from the computer)?

If you happen to have a SD 400/450/500/550 or S30 instead, is "remote capture" available for them? Since these models have limited manual settings, does this mean they have limited controls from the computer too, such as no focus lock & no manual shutter speed choices?

Thanks in advance to anyone that has tried these out & knows,
..ric

Breeze has the program PSRemote which allows a computer to take control of many cameras remotely.

Unfortunately it doesn't work (yet) with my A620, which shuts down prematurely. A beta version supposedly fixes a similar problem with the S2 IS, and perhaps that version will work with the A620.

Suggest you Google PSRemote and check the Breeze site and forum.

Breeze's sequential shooting timing numbers are all measured using USB 1, so USB 2 should be significantly faster...

According to Breeze, "at the lowest JPEG resolution and quality, in manual exposure mode and with the AF locked, the maximum frame rate is approximately 3 secs/frame.

With normal AF and auto exposure the interval between shots is approximately 3 secs plus 3 secs for every megabyte of the file being downloaded e.g. a 2Mb JPEG would take approximately 9 secs."
