Great work, Joe! I always like to see successful shots by fellow
602 owners.
Thank you. The 602 definitely lives up to its rep.
In the first shot, the moon has a pinkish halo around it. Did it
look that way in reality? Every time I try a moon shot, I get a
similar halo effect with my 602 (although it is a bit more goldish
in color) --I'm wondering what causes this sort of effect. Is there
fog (dirt or moisture) in the lens elements, on the sensor, or...?
I have never been able to take a successful picture of the moon with my digital cameras. I am assuming its primarily a sensor issue, likely sensor bloom, and unless Im using manual mode I cant stop down and use a long enough exposure to capture moon detail.
It just becomes a hot glowing disc with a halo, affected by the color of the ambient light.
The 602's a GREAT cam otherwise, though, and I plan no upgrades on
the near future.
Well, I am upgrading primarily because Im putting some wear & tear on this unit, even though it is holding up . It needs some cleaning and servicing before my warranty period is up. (Cleaning out the lens element, tightening the slightly wobbly outer lens tube, relubricating the zoom gear, getting dust out of the diopter etc)
Since I take pictures almost daily, I dont want to be without a camera at all.
So, Im taking the opportunity to upgrade with a s20 and the s9000.
With all three, I should be set for another coupla years, yah?
