While I wait to get the s9000 ...

Coit Tower

I have to admit, I am proud of this shot. Shooting handheld at ISO 400, no light, breathing REAL steady for this full telephoto, lotta bright light scatter from passing traffic and street lamps. Whoo.

I did good.

A few others from last night

Man. Great camera.

Really nice. I love San Francisco and you have shown bits of it very well. Can't wait to see what you can do with the S9000.

hmmmm only tourists call "The City" Frisco. I like your second shot best. Nice low light captures. Yes the S602 is still a fine camera ... but the user must also be good. I like your photos.

Thanks Glenda. If money permits, Ive got a long planned trip to Hawaii next month and Id like to take a new camera with me, as Ive taken over 20,000 images on the s602 in under a year, and it's time to relegate it to secondary duty, send it in for a in-warranty cleaning and service.

Frisco is a beautiful city, and it's almost a crime not to carry a camera around with you constantly. :)

Heh, Ive heard that.

There's even a Laundromat on Hayes Street called 'Dont call it Frisco".

Me? Ive never been one to go along with peer pressure, and frankly, most of the natives Ive talked to (ie: the ones actually born and bred here, not the transplants) actually SAY 'Frisco' and have no idea why its considered verboten to say it.

So, until someone can explain to me WHY it's irritating and taboo to refer to San Francisco as 'Frisco' and not 'The City' rolls eyes , Im gonna exercise that silly free speech thing and let 'Frisco' trip off the tongue as prettily as it does. :)

Ahh, the Embarcadero/Ferry Building shot. Was a clear and beautiful night.

chuffed Im giving credit to the camera. Every time I think Ive reached its limit - it shows it can do almost everything if youre willing to work with it

If the s9000 can do everything the s602 can, with a higher resolution and range, Im sold.
Happy Shooting !

Which island are you going to? Like San Francisco, the photo ops are everywhere. The terrain is so varied on each individual island it was quite a surprise to me the first time I went. The people are wonderful. I will be back on the big island next July.

Most people's reaction to me going in July is "It will be so hot!" No, it will be a big relief. Hawaii 73 to 84 degrees...Rural Western Nevada 99 to 110 degrees.

Have a great trip. Look forward to the photos.

Great work, Joe! I always like to see successful shots by fellow 602 owners.

In the first shot, the moon has a pinkish halo around it. Did it look that way in reality? Every time I try a moon shot, I get a similar halo effect with my 602 (although it is a bit more goldish in color) --I'm wondering what causes this sort of effect. Is there fog (dirt or moisture) in the lens elements, on the sensor, or...?

The 602's a GREAT cam otherwise, though, and I plan no upgrades on the near future.

Seoul, is a busy, modern city, lot different than US, lots of picture opportunities. I have flickr account, let me try to embed a picture.

Which island are you going to?
Oahu/Honolulu.

Since this is my first time, Im just going for a get acquainted trip. Nothing fancy.

In fact, I intend for this to be more of a urban safari, than a nature trek. Im more interested in the people and food and how ordinary folk are living.
Have a great trip. Look forward to the photos.
Thanks Glenda

Thank you. The 602 definitely lives up to its rep.
In the first shot, the moon has a pinkish halo around it. Did it

I have never been able to take a successful picture of the moon with my digital cameras. I am assuming its primarily a sensor issue, likely sensor bloom, and unless Im using manual mode I cant stop down and use a long enough exposure to capture moon detail.

It just becomes a hot glowing disc with a halo, affected by the color of the ambient light.
The 602's a GREAT cam otherwise, though, and I plan no upgrades on
the near future.
Well, I am upgrading primarily because Im putting some wear & tear on this unit, even though it is holding up . It needs some cleaning and servicing before my warranty period is up. (Cleaning out the lens element, tightening the slightly wobbly outer lens tube, relubricating the zoom gear, getting dust out of the diopter etc)
Since I take pictures almost daily, I dont want to be without a camera at all.
So, Im taking the opportunity to upgrade with a s20 and the s9000.

With all three, I should be set for another coupla years, yah? :)

Frisco makes my heart all warm and fuzzy when I recall my visit there last year! It really is a breathakingly beautiful City with such exciting history and the eclectical/bohemic mood there is awe-inspiring. The weather would make me want to slit my wrists there tho, if I lived there!

Thanks for sharing your pix with us! Philadelphia (Philly!) is another City here that has a new photographic adventure each and every day.
