Does the R800 use/lose ink each time it is is turned on?

I'm trying to determine if it's wiser to turn it off and on multiple times during a day or just to leave it on. I find myself turning it off each time I finish printing, thinking I won't use it again soon, but often end up turning it back on soon after.

If it actually expends ink during this cycle, I'll leave it on for longer periods.

This is a direct quote from an Epson newsletter dated July 2004:

"If you use your printer on a daily basis, just leave it on. This is not a waste of energy as the printer uses minimal power in standy mode. You should turn the printer off if it is not going to be used for a few days. However, your printer does work best when used regularly so it is recommended that you turn the printer on and make a small number of prints at least every seven to ten days."

...whatever "X" days is, be prepared to do a "head cleaning". Normally, the first photo print will tell you if the heads need to be cleaned. As there will certainly be "banding". As I'm sure you are aware, "head cleaning" uses ink.
