I am still playing with the E-10 in stores. Should have the thing purchased next week.

I finally got the AF problem figured out. It was a diopter problem. I am SO happy I solved that.

My current issue is how to choose the image quality/mode. I have found the tiff/shq/hq - res - ratio setting on the color LCD menu. BUT, when I select in there, it says something else on the top lcd display. If I go back into the color menu, it is back at tiff (if I had switched to SHQ). Seems a bit odd to me. I'm sure it's covered in the manual, but as I dont have that...

Thanks for the help. (I'm am so in love with this cam!) My g/f and I had an in-Circuit City modeling session tonight. I am jonesing HARD for this cam!

image quality/rez on the E-10 has three user definable settings, shq, hq, sq

any of them can be set to any resolution/compression mode by 1. putting the menu on quality mode 2. move the cursor to the setting you are defining 3. pushing the image quality mode botton on top of the camera and turning the main dial.

So you have to use BOTH the color menu AND the DIAL/top LCD? Which is the "image quality mode" button?

the menu is for u to change the compression of jpeg such as 1:4, 1:8 or 1/2. u can change different compression ratio for the SHQ, HQ and SQ.
The main dial on the top is for u to choose which mode u want to use...

TIFF, SHQ and SQ.They are two different things. sorry, my english isn't really good. i hope u can understand my explaination.

its one of two buttons that have the word reset attached to it, its the one that looks like a diamond thats solid on half of it and dotted on the rest.

Thank you guys...

I DO understand what you are saying. I think it is something I wont completely comprehend until I can try it again and see how it works.

Thanks for the help.

I should have mentioned that the res settings even though they are called shq, hq, sq they may as well be called a, b, and c as they are all changeable

so you could if you wanted to set your sq at the highest res and shq at low res. but once you have set the three settings to your preference all you have to do to switch is push the res button and turn the main dial. very handy

Look at this page picturing E-10 from above
http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/olympuse10/page7.asp
you see there on up two buttons ... right one has dotted triangle inside it

by holding this button down and turning either main dial beside button or using thumb wheel on back of cam you can change picture quality setting which will be used

in the LCD menus you set the presets (compressions) for each actual quality settings

So the "thumb wheel" on the back is a duplicate of the wheel on top?

I am so happy! Ignorance IS bliss!

yes ... it is most of time duplicate control for main dial except when in full manual exposure mode then one sets shutter one aperture ... I do not remember which way
