Binoculars ?

Have 8-10 pairs around somewhere, some expensive Fuginons, got rid of Steiners, etc.

The ones I always grab(weather permitting - not water-proof) are my Canon 10X30 I.S. (Star-test very-nearly as good as Nikon "Superior-E" 10X42s)

The steadiness these give makes more difference in the actual "seeing" than larger objectives, etc., unless you re talking extreme twilight. Min focus about 14 feet. Great when combined with a hiking-stick ...add your two legs for a "tripod", push the I.S. button. and don't just "look", ...STUDY!

Try 'em. ;-)

Realizing this is a bit of an open question but I'm looking for
some recommendations on Binoculars. Preferably 10X or above with
good low light visibility.

Appreciate any input.

thanks

I know the IS binoculars need batteries but how long do they last? I've been out in -8° C and wonder about the life of the batteries then and the cost of them.

And my 7 x 42's can be held OK at -8° C.

Regards, David

PS Also, I worry about dropping something as expensive as that, especially at night. Hence the preference for the Russian ones which are built like tanks.

PPS I've bought several at silly prices and repaired them in seconds and sold them on. There's a lot of people who like taking binoculars to bits out there but they don't understand simple things like not cross threading
