fz5 - battery life

my "spare". The last time I used it was at least two weeks ago. Before I put it back in my bag, I charged it up and it has sat in the bag ever since.

This evening when I took it out and put it in my FZ5 the battery indicator showed that it was still FULLY charged. All the bars were there.

To me that seems pretty good. A fully charged battery just lying around for at least two weeks and still shows a full charge; and it is not even a panasonic original battery

Hope this helps your decision. Enjoy your trip!

I wouldn't feel comfortable with 3 batteries for that long. It's virtually impossible to give you the number of shots you'll get from each, because it depends on how much time the camera is turned on when you're not shooting.

There's a guy on ebay that sells compatible batteries for what totals $10-$12 each, including shipping (WongCheungKee). What I'd do is buy 5 or 6, make sure they're charged fully and then be careful not to waste them. The batteries are tiny, so space shouldn't be a problem. LIthium batteries hold a charge in storage, unlike NIMH.

Shut it off as soon as you're done shooting. Set the camera's power-save mode to 1 minute, in case you forget to shut it off. Use the viewfinder, not the LCD screen, and don't do anything silly like turning on full-time autofocus.

hi!

thanks for your experiences ... it's good to know that these li-ion batteries won't dis-charge quickly. but these batteries are very expensive (in comparison to nimh batteries) ... that should also be considered

ok, since battery life is no problem any more, I have to consider which of these two camers (fz vs. s2) I like more g Thanks a lot for your help!

I agree you can buy replacement bateries for $10
instead of orginals I use one of my own.
the orginal I used for emergencies.
an orginal beterie kost around $50 I think
so you can buy 5 of them instead of one baterie.
so problem solft.
good luck with your trip.
