I'm about to buy my first digital camera but would like to know the easiest program to view, crop, print the photos, etc. (definitely not PhotoShop) I'm a real beginner and need something very basic. Not sure what camera to buy either - also desiring the easiest to use - possibly the Olympus 3040. I have a year old PowereMac. Thank you for any advice you can offer.--Sharon

Sharon,

Photoshop Elements is the best investment http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshopel/main.html
You can download a demo from the above URL to try.

You might also look into PhotoDeluxe http://www.adobe.com/products/photodeluxe/version20.html

Not as good as Elements but simple to use.

Good Luck,

Frank

Your camera will probably have a software editing program included. I have an older Sony that included Arc Soft Camera studio. I liked ( as a beginner )Arc Soft because of the ease of use. I also use Photoshop Elements and Corel Print House as well as a variety of others. Versiontracker.com offers a lot of interesting software. I found Image Buddy there which allows one to print multiple images. Also, Slide Freebie is a great little slide show .Connie

http://www.lemkesoft.de Graphics Converter $40 is a great value package not least because upgrades to the latest version are free. As with all such packages that are not so mainstream you may have to trawl the web a bit to get tips on using it most productively

A very simple (and cheap) package coded by some other Germans is Photogenetics try http://www.qbeo.com the effects are pretty cool and even for die hard Photoshopers it might be worth its $30.

Hello,

Does Photoshop Elements gives you the same printing features as
Imagebuddy ??

Thanks for any advice.

Christophe
I've only used Photoshop for a few weeks. I have not noticed if it has the multiple image feature. I don't think it does. I usually edit my photos in the software editing program and then use Image Buddy as a means to place the photos on a page for printing. With Image Buddy one can print various sizes of a variety of images on one page. And it is so easy and fun to do. Hope this helps. Connie

Photoshop 6 does have the multiple image on one page feature.
It's under: File/Automate/Picture Package.

My 2¢ would be get Photoshop and learn it... But, Photoshop is expensive and probably overkill if all you want to do right now is print your pics. If that's the case take Connie's advice and look at Image Buddy - It's only $15.00 and a lot of people seem to be happy with it.

After my previous post I opened Photoshop Elements only to discover that it does have the multiple print feature. It looks like one can only use one image though. Correct me if I am wrong. I learn something new every day!! Connie
