He was caught silhouetted againnst the sun........

You must have been with the SAS in order to develop the skills necessary to sneak up, un-noticed, and shoot the bird - with a camera of course. He does look a bit stiff, though, and perhaps sports a woody. One thing for sure, many birds eat insects but this fellow better not run into termites, or open flames for the matter. I would recommend a quick visit to the taxidermist if you wish to find subjects with an equal willingnes to be photographed.

I'll misquote Donald Rumsfeld when I say,
'You go take pictures with the glass you've got.'

Rivals with the National Geographic pictures ? You must be kidding, right ?

The first one is too dark, the third one is completely blown(almost no details left there on the poor bird). The subject is centered, the light is too harsh ( I guess, by the shadows, they were taken sometimes around noon - if so, bad time for photography)

I have a lot more to learn, but when I started taking photography more seriously, I started the hard way, by being criticised, and not highly praised. I see nothing wrong in telling someone willing to learn that maybe he is not doing things right - it will only help him improve.

I do hope the original poster will not be upset at me for this, but i just could not stay apart. There is a long way to NG, I can tell you that. If I offended someone, accept my apologies in advance.

Best regards

Try to see the humour in the original post. This was a joke. Yes you are right in the critique is far as the image qulity goes, but he was kidding about NG!

I still can't stop laughing! I don't mean to be unkind at his expense - I guess we've all missed the point of a joke sometimes - but that is a story I can dine out on for years!

OK, my bad..:-( I must be really tired. And yes, we got a lot of them three legged critters 'round here, so nothing unusual caught my attention. We are still fighting the ice age down here.

Regarding my sense of humour, Shutterbuggin, thank you very much, is still there.

No harm intented, got my reward from you guys...

Sorry.

If you are referring to the bird's third leg what does "p* " translate to, from my perspective you're one letter short.

I hear MI6 is employing them now to spy on the more rural areas of the country.

They're trained to seek out anyone who can't sing the words to God Save the Queen forward and backward and who doesn't like tea. After all, someone who doesn't like tea can't possibly be up to any good in England. :)

Why "pegg" of course!! Don't you speak English in the colonies Stan?

Nah, we speak Amurrican over here. We don't need extra letters in our words like you do. I could never quite understand the need to extend words like aluminum, color and flavor with all those extra, unnecessary letters. :)

It would never surprise me in modern Britain - we are spied on relentlessly here with cameras everwhere. Maybe that heron idea is not so bad..........
