Just got my new SE K750i cell phone with a 2 MP camera with macro and auto focus.

This is not to start a discussion if cell phnoes might one day or might already replace entry level digi cams because they can't and I don't really care right now if they will one day.

This is just to show that you now can take decent pictures when you don't have anything else but your cell phone with you (good light is necessary though). The pics have only been auto-sharpened with PSE3 and downsized:

....it looks like the quality of P&S photos. i wonder how these cameraphones will perform in a few more years.

Didn't know that Aldi made it to the US.

Anyways, I think Austria is the only country where the name is different from the German "original".

For us "Hofer" sounds more natural and is quite a common name. I guess that's the reason.

I'm in the market for a new handy and this is darn interesting! Nice shots.

Are you by any chance near Fiss?

I have to take my photos seriously; no one else does!

Now,

If you take two things and combine them - which dies?

Maybe P&S cameras and phones will be the same. But - then P&S cameras have not died - have they?

But - I assume that you may still want a P&S camera without a phone.

More advanced things that need beefier stuff will never fit into a phone I want to carry. So - nope - maybe my future DSLR will have a phone and a TV and a GPS and a ... But, it will still be the camera that dominates.

No, over 500 km away in Graz.

I bought the phone from a German dealer though.

Sunday was the "day of the open cave door" or whatever it is in English- you could go visit dozens of wineyards and try all their wines while listening to stories about wine:

I also have this phone, and love the camera. I don't think camera phones will replace point and shoots, but it will definately take over the low end. Nobody's gonna buy a sub 4 megapixel camera when 7 megapixel phones are ubiquitous. It will just get more and more people into photography, who then look at higher end point and shoots, and maybe even DSLRs. I have an old Canon S200, and my phone is replacing it, as it accomplishes what I bought the camera for: Quick and dirty snapshots. I am now looking into a nicer point and shoot, maybe a Digital Rebel.

Here's the link to the slideshow, all other pics taken with my Canon S200

The first one is amazing !
What did you do to it apart from sharpening ?
Actually, I didn't sharpen it, I just used the macro mode. All I did was adjust the color with "auto color" in photoshop elements, it was a bit yelow, I used the auto white balance on the phone (still figuring it out)
