The memory technology(SEIL):
SLOW
EXPENSIVE
INCOMPATIBLE
LIMITED 128mb.....

The consumers are smart, SONY is not the best to sentence us with a propietary format....always sony...Ex....Minidisk and DAT

I HOPE THAT .NIKKON. CANNON, OLYMPUS, have better sales, just for the media...They have equal and better cameras too....

Bravo SONY........change the name to MEMORY SICK.....

SLOW
Actually, regular memory stick is much faster than Lexar 8x (not a slowest CF, isn't it?) It is very close to 2MB/sec.
EXPENSIVE
It's more expenisve than crapy cheap slow CF cards from crapy manufacturers. Memory stick does not look expensive when you compare it to Lexar 10x, for example. Problem is: nobody makes slow, cheap and crapy memory sticks.
INCOMPATIBLE
True.
LIMITED 128mb.....
Ture, but that's going to change soon. Seriously, 2x128MB will cover your needs for 2 weeks vacation. Not bad. People don't realise, that using all 5 megapixels for 4x6" prints - it's stupid. I always shoot in 1600x1200 if I know for sure I won't print larger prints than 4x6". (90% of all your pictures, maybe even 99%, never become the prints at that size).

Actually, Ive read that the ms will be limited to 1 gig. Of course, sony is only up to 128mb...look for 256mb ms in q1 2002.

I completely agree that the ms is a weakness of sony cameras however, its not a back breaker...the only real disadvantage is cost. You could carry around a gig on ms in your camera case although you would also be in the poorhouse.

But, i'm not psychic, so therefore i don't know which ones i want big. Shoot the biggest so you have options.

Why buy a 5mp camera then???????????

I agree with softtower. My main camera is my CD 1000 and with Genuine Fractals I feel I can print larger if need be.

The only reason I purchased the S85 was to have a smaller camera...the CD 1000 is pretty large for parties, etc. Based on what I've seen from the S85 so far, it's the only thing I've got over the CD 1000.

I bought into Sony for the image quality not MS vs CF. Also, I got a P&S for size convenience. The 3mp s70 was the best at the time (5/2000) for a

If memory compatiblity is more important then the image Sony cameras offer then by all means, buy something else. Not everyone likes the vivid colors and the sharp zeiss lens.
