I'll be visiting Fenway park in two weeks and would love to take back some memories with me.

On Fenway's website, it states not any recording devices used to record the game is not allowed. I'm sure if one brings a P&S, one wouldn't be bothered; however, I would like to bring my DSLR body with a telephoto lens. Will I be stopped???

Any recommendations? Thank you.

"Cameras and video cameras are permitted inside Fenway Park, but cannot be used to reproduce the game and must not interfere with other fans' enjoyment of the game. Please remember that fans who have small bags, containers, small purses and diaper bags that fit beneath their seats can enter at Gate B only. Fans will NOT be permitted to store any prohibited items at Fenway Park."

I shoot anything that moves.

Thanks. I saw that on Fenway's website, but I personally think the statement is ambiguous. According to it, I am not allowed to reproduce the game and that I am not to interfere with other people's enjoyment of the game.

The latter is easy to take care of; I just simply need to scream something bad about the Yankees. It's the first that I worry.

With a D2 body and a 70-200 VR, I might look a bit too "professional". Does anyone have any experiences at Fenway or any ball parks??? I don't want my "toys" get confiscated or anything... I always would like to enjoy the game and not just the first 5 minutes until I pulled my camera out.

I Live in Miami and attended a baseball game with my D70 and a small

70-300G and I were not permitted in because according to the manager at the gate I had a "professional video camera". I'm not sure how people are up there but from my experience the gate people are the worse.

P.S. I got in because I removed the lens shade and made the lens look smaller.

Last year I went to Fenway with a D100 and 28-200 on camera. In my pocket I had a 12-24. Had to show lens in pocket but other wise no problem.

I live in Cincinnati and contacted the Reds organization about photography and got this response:

'Eric,

Cameras are allowed for personal use. You may not video the game however. Cameras cannot exceed 16" x 16" x 8". Thank you for your interest in the Cincinnati Reds!'

So I'm planning on taking my D70 (maybe my D2h) and my 70-200 VR lens AND a copy of the email the next time I go to the game.

I go to Fenway several times a year and they have always allowed me to bring my camera in. I used to bring my F5 with 80-400VR in all the time. They check the stuff out when you go through the gate, just like at the airport, but bringing it in is no problem.

Much of the time I get looks of concern but I've always managed to enter. A couple of times after 911 I had to talk my way in but was never refused. If you can bring a kid with you and put your larger lenses in a small bag, not on the camera your chances are better. I always take my 300/f4 which is about the same size as a 70-200. Enjoy the game.

Now at the Hartford Civic Center they just flat out refused any camera where the lens wasn't attached. I had 1st row center for the womens basketball tournament. I was pretty upset plus I was extreemly agitated for two games with my D2 and lenses sitting out in the parking lot.

Be well,

Saw a guy with a D2x and a pretty good sized tele lens on there at the Angel game last Friday.

Obviously not Fenway, but I'm pretty sure that SLR bodies are allowed into ball games for the most part.

I have never had a problem at Safeco Field. The just check my camera bag the same as they do any other bag going through the gates.

No problems bringing your favorite gear to Fenway. Security at the gate will inspect your bag, tag it, and tell you to enjoy the game.

...I hear Fenway is camera-friendly...so is Yankee Stadium. Have fun, I hear Fenway is a great place, I have to get up there myself just once to experience it for real...

I checked with RFK Statium for the Nationals. They permit 35mm cameras with detachable lenses no more than 3 inches long.

I generally try to avoid bringing anything that screams "professional camera bag" to the ballpark. I had no trouble getting an N80 with a 70-300 into Yankee Stadium. I have brought small camera bags to Camden Yards, but I now usually go with an FM2 and a couple of lenses in a TINY bag that doesn't look camera-specific. I could probably get away with a DSLR, but I actually don't shoot much of the game when I'm at the ballpark (I'd rather watch the ballgame and shoot candids or wide shots).
