... it was not that helpful. I also posted this to the printer forum in hope that someone knows about this.

I have an Epson 890, using a PIM supported Sony S75. Do not know if PIM is a good thing, but wanted to try it. Need your help please.

My driver from bundled CD is version "6.01"

The driver from the UK site (got there from going to http://www.dpreview.com/news/0109/01090504epsonpimdrivers.asp ) is version "6.01/P". Neither have any visable PIM option.

I called Epson and they said:
  • 6.01 and 6.01/P are same driver, 'it's just a different designation'??
  • to enable PIM, you need a PIM supported camera (got that), and have to use "PhotoQuicker"
So my question, how the heck do you enable PIM? Can you only print using PIM by using the PhotoQuicker application (which does have the PIM touchup option)...... or can PIM be enabled within the driver itself. And if so, do you have to use the 6.01/P? Some people say the 'Digital Camera Correction' option enables PIM. Way too confusing !!!

Well, i don't have the printer - or the camera. BUt, from what you are describing it sounds like you need both a PIM camera AND application. Perhaps the only PIM application is the PhotoQuicker?!?!?!

Yes, for it to work properly, you need three ingredients, all with PIM built-in: The camera, the software, and the printer drivers.

Probably common image editing software has not yet implemented this technology in order to properly preserve the data.

Went through same thing with Epson. In addition to the Photoquicker App., you need to use the latest version of Film Factory 2.00P, which is the only version that is PIM ready.

What happens is that when you load the image from the camera into Film Factory, there is a PIM tag on pictures that have not been altered.

Photoquicker is used to load the pictures from the camera to the Film Factory, other wise you don't see the PIM.

Of course, you can also load the pictures directly from the camera to Film Factory, but then (at least in the present version) you don't get the PIM.

Also, if you do any altering to the picture, sharpening etc. PIM is history.

If you need latest Film Factory version: Email me.

I wonder about this one. According to the PIM website, the PIM information is stored in the EXIF header. There are some programs (such as Photoshop Elements, that I use) that do NOT alter the EXIF header when you make modifications to your images. In that case, one would think the PIM data would also be unalterred since it is within the EXIF header, right?
