Hi to all, I posted several message in this forum about the 2100 and his rumoured new model. At least I decided to buy it, considering the very good price; I went to New York Camera website (German reseller, I'm from Italy) and.... Sold Out! I wrote to them and they replied: "The Olympus C-2100 has been sold out. It's discountinued."

:-(((

Shit!

Now I hope that really Olympus will be release a new UZi with IS lens and a new ccd with 3+ mp....

It may be true that Oly has quit making the camera but that doesn't mean you can't get it anywhere. Search the Internet resellers and you will find it. Heres a link to CNET's guide to places where you can purchase the camera: http://shopper.cnet.com/shopping/resellers/1,10231,0-11326-311-2941185,00.html
I hear good things about http://www.buydig.com .

Good luck..

Because New York Camera said the C-2100 is discontinued doesn't necessarily mean it is discontinued. What it probably means is that New York Camera has none in stock and would like you to buy something they do have in stock. In any event, the C-2100 is available at many other outlets.

I got mine from photalley.com with no hasstle and they have 100 dollar off. You can also get it from dbuys.com where a lot of people here have gotten it. Just watch out for them trying to sell you a bunch of useless accessories..and expensive.

Yes, but I'm from Italy, so If I buy from the USA, the warranty isn't valid in my country, the video output standard is NTSC and not PAL, and I have to add a 20% Italian tax to the price, plus import and shipping costs...

I must buy it in Europe... :-( (In Italy I can't find it at less than 925$.. too much!)

You might want to at least take a look at the E100. Don't let the pixel
count scare you off - try printing out some sample images. I've
always considered it an upgrade from my 2100 that I couldn't quite
afford. For the price you can get it for now you almost can't loose.

If it's not for you, I hope they do come out with a good new model soon.

It seems to be the way they discontinue models - with the B300 people
were posting e-mail's from Olympus denying that it was going to be
discontinued right up to the day it was - and then the price shot up
on those you could still find.

Dave

PS they wouldn't let me post untill I deleated your "bad" word.
How'd you get away with it?

Last week I asked olympus if the 2100 was still in production. They said yes. I asked them again today and I will let you know what they say.

From my point of view it would be stupid to stop selling it without having something else in the market to replace it.

If they pulled the 2100 without a replacement people would buy the 10 zoom cannon.

As for the b-300 it is a part for the IS-3 not the Olympus 2100 so I doubt one could connect the end of the b-300 to anything relating to the Olympus 2100.

All sorts of 2100 users are using the B-300. They love it.

The point is not that the B300 being discontinued indicates that the
2100 is going to be discotinued (although there's no shortage of other
good reasons to think that). The point is that Olympus continued to
publicly deny that it was going to be discontinued right up to the
moment it was.
I think the world will continue on with the 2100 going out of production.

Whether it is true or not that Olympus will quit making the C-2100 uz, fact is, that when you have a look at their website at http://www.olympusamerica.com and look under Filmless digital camera's they start by showing the...C-2100 uz!

As of today...
The B-300 (an ad on lens for the Olympus IS-3) is no longer in production.

The Olympus 2100... Is still in full production.

Sounds like a good rob Peter to pay Paul short term strategy to get the quarter end earnings up. Leak the notion that some popular item is on the verge of discontinuance. Sit back and watch anyone who was on the fence hop off the fence.

Olympus has never done anything but deny that they have plans to discontinue the C-2100. Every email from anyone in this group asking Olympus if the C-2100 was being continued has gotten the same response every time from Olympus.

People who have too much time on their hands should take up a hobby, maybe photography. If they were out taking pictures, instead of waiting for the next super digital camera to come out, they wouldn't have so much time to be spreading rumors.

AMEN to that!!!!! You all supposedly believe you have one of the best cameras out there...why wait? Use it, and when the new one comes out, THEN talk about it...it may end up being another 4040 upgrade to the 3040, not much but pixel and price going up...remember also that this thing isn't going to be 518 bucks..........

Olympus still sells the 2040, 3040, and 4040.

Even if Olympus sold a 4100 this christmas that was a 10X zoom and a 4 MP digital, you shouldn't assume they will stop selling the 2100.

A new 4100 will no doubt be around $1500 (usa) so some people will still want a 2MP version for less.

Olympus still sells the 2040, 3040, and 4040.
You can also get them from fom any dealer without them saying "we dont't
have them anymore - there being discontinued". Now most that once carried
the 2100 will tell you that.
Not trying to be difficult here - just curious why it's seems to be such an
offensive idea to you?
The retreat from the marketplace, the agressive price reduction, the rebates,
the lack of any brick and mortar dealers carrying them, the number of
dealers saying there being discontinued, seems to lead many to suspect it
might soon be.
We won't know untill it is, so what's wrong with planning on the very real
possibility that that time is here?

Don't know if the UK is any good to you? http://www.digitaldepot.co.uk have stocks - I've just bought one at £449 sterling.
