I just got home from the store with my Canon G6. When I got the box
out of the bag I noticed that this had no tape or any kind of seal.
It was perfectly locked and inside everything looks well packed.
The camera looks clean.

I had a Kodak before and it came sealed with round tape. I'd like
to know from other G6 owners if it is common that the box is not
sealed with tape. I don't want to obsess too much about it, but I
paid for a brand new product, not an open box item. I won't be able
to sleep if I suspect that this is a returned camera.

Thanks.

KY Arin, thanks for your very quick answer!!!

Was EVERYTHING sealed with tape inside? Charger, battery, remote and camera are inside plastic bags or some kind of wrapping but NOT sealed. The manuals, for instance, are perfectly sealed.

Thanks.

i don't think u should worry .... sounds new to me , none of the canon boxes come sealed with tape or wrapped in shrink wrap like some other companies , as long as the manuals is still sealed and the accessories are in clear bags taped on the ends and the wires have black twist ties that don't look as if they have been re-twisted ( its easy to tell ) then i would say u got a fresh G6

I have purchased four Canon cameras in the past two years. No Canon box has ever been sealed. That's what cracks me up on eBay when sellers advertise "factory sealed" box and they are not. And most items inside the box are not "sealed"...some in a ziplock type plastic bag.

As I said in a previous post, manuals are perfectly sealed. Battery, charger, remote and camera are not sealed with tape, but they are properly wrapped. Knowing that Canon doesn't tape its boxes, I will assume this is not a returned box. The only thing that looks a little suspicious is the double bag that contains the AV and USB cables. The tape is a little twisted, but the ties are neatly tiwsted and the cables look perfectly folded.

Thanks.

Good point. The G6 I ordered from Dell was packaged the same as yours but the image counter started at IMG_0032.JPG. I subsequently returned the camera because of focusing issues.

I think I'm ok. I took and deleted a couple of pictures, but looking at 2 I saved later they are IMG_0003 and IMG_0004. Thanks!!!
