I have garnered a lot of wisdom from this site and this will be my first post. Of course it has to be a question: Did Panasonic update the FZ10 and paste a new label on it? "FZ15". I have seen little on the specs on the FZ15 hence my question.

From what I understand dpreview is a British-based site and the FZ15 is actually sold in the US, not in England.

FZ10 comes with a shoe mount for external flash; FZ15 does not. Although they do seem to be very similar, this is one of the reasons I wouldn't consider it an update.

No place is boring if you've had a good night's sleep and have an FZ20!

The flash shoe is left out of the FZ15 (the FZ20 has it), but there are a bunch of enhanced features that the FZ10 did not have. They are both 4 MP cams but the FZ15 adds the following that the FZ10 DID NOT have. Faster processing and focus, more comfortable handgrip (although still think it could be better, but is improved no doubt), several focus modes for more accurate focus (spot, 3 point and 9 point) and an unlimited consecutive burst mode that enables you to shoot until the card is full (the FZ10 limited you to 4 or 5 shots and then you had to recompose and press the shutter again).

All in all I took 30,000 pics with my FZ10 and loved it. I purchased an FZ15 and think it will yield even greater success and already it has proven to be well worth the switch. I recently attended an ice show and took over 1000 pics. The FZ10 wasn’t that great in theses conditions and yielded about 40-50 % ratio of sharp pics. I am happy to say that under the same circumstances the FZ15 is up around 70-80% usable pics. This I think is due to the more accurate focus (spot) and the better handgrip.

I wil post some samples as soon as I can get more time.

Get it, you won't regret it.

Glad to hear you are enjoying the new FZ15! I agree that the FZ15 has ergonomic and performance enhancements over the FZ10. Many of the enhancements you listed are platform enhancements, also available on the FZ3 and FZ20. My guess would be that Panasonics intention was for the FZ20 to be the "Next Generation FZ10".

Thanks for the info. I have to agree with you, raywes, that the focus time is "slow on the draw" with the FZ10. That has been a source of contention with me. A lot of missed candid shots. I am going to enjoy the FZ10 a bit longer. I am learning a lot with it - Prep school for the FZ30 when it Pana_ releases it.
Looking forward to some of those ice show shots...
