Hello

This is my first post. I'm an amateur trying to learn more about photography. I mostly only take pictures of my dolls but with this new Sony V3 I plan on really learning more and also get familiar with the settings. My camera before this one is only a very simple point & shoot 2.1 megapixel Kodak which is 5 years old so this is really a major upgrade for me. ^^

I would like to improve and maybe take photos of other things than my dolls in the future. lol I'm still not quite sure about settings of this camera but so far I've been happy with it.

The first photo I think it was the first time I used it outside and forgot to put in the correct setting and it came out almost sepia like. I kind of like the result. XD

Had to edit this last photo to make it darker. > .

For being an amateur these shots are crisp and clean with a GREAT composition (for the given subject material. Your lighting is spot on and the images stand out very well. Nicely done! Enjoy the new camera, the V-series is stellar (I own a V1)

On a side note, are these dolls that you make yourself? If so they're really quite interesting and you're work is very good.

Thank you for your comment! ^^ I know my photos are not as great as the ones being posted here but thought I'd share how the V3 takes postrait like pics indoors(with 1 lamp) and outdoors.

I love the color coming from this camera. Actually I bought the V3 and then after 4 days decided to return it and get the Canon G6. I got swayed by the raving comments on the G6. > .

About my dolls, no I did not make them. I wish I did so I'll be rich by now selling them. lol They're made in Japan and Korea. But I did paint their faces myself. ^^

Grace they're fab! I love the first one especially. The muted sepia 'skin' tones work really well....the dolls are very Manga like. These are your first shots? Golly, I have to go back to school....:)

Superb!

Heehee The first pic was just a happy accident. I don't even know what setting it was on when I took that pic outside. lol

These were my first real shots with the V3 but I have been photographing my dolls for my website with a real P&S 2.1 mp Kodak camera before I got the Sony DSC-V3. XD I'm happy you like the pics. Thank you for taking the time to comment.

You definitely did a good job with lighting and composition. You seem to know what you're doing. Nice way to combine two hobbies.

And this is yet more proof that the V3 is a great camera.

Wow! As a new V3 user myself I am amazed at your series. If this is your start using an 'upgraded' camera like the V3, I sure want to see what you post as you go along. I will keep watching. Well done. And welcome, another V3 user.

Thanks Bob! I'm just now starting to get to know the V3 intimately. XD I love this camera.

I don't have a regular desktop monitor now though so all the pics I'm taking now I don't even know how they look on regular desktop monitors. I hope the colors aren't all off. I'm using a laptop only. I need to buy a new desktop monitor. lol

Well, Grace, I certainly am no expert when it comes to digital photography, but I can say that I find your pics of your dolls exceptional. I only hope I can do as well...not with 'dolls' per se as I am a married man. lol.

Anyway, all kidding aside, I labored back and forth about the V3 and the much loved 828 and settled for the V3 because a friend of mind reminded me that it I did get the 828 my wonderful F717 would probably gather dust and I wasn't about to let that happen.

And if I repeat myself here, Grace, I won't apologize because I will be eagerly awaiting your next posting. I am writing your forum name down on my forum list I keep in a drawer beside me to remind me when I see your posting(s).

Thanks for your pleasant attitude.

Wow, outstanding pictures. I would certianly be proud to have taken them. You just might give Yehuda Katz a run for his money on taking beautiful womens portraits! ;-) Your work on both accounts are well done.
