Hi,

I'm after some quick advice

I have a meeting with a Photography Motorsport company tomorrow for a position as a photographer supporting their events and was wondering what I should wear to the 'interview'

Normally I would just put a suit, shirt and tie on but I feel it might be too smart.

Any views ???

Now, I don't know about photography interviews, but my view is that's it's always better to be too smart than too casual.

If you're too casual, you look like you're not taking the interview seriously. That may make them doubt if you would take the job seriously.

If you're too smart the worst you can really do is look a little out of place. But you do look like you're taking the interview, and therefore the job, seriously.

I think that it doesn't matter what you'd actually wear doing the job - an interview is different. You wouldn't turn up to an interview for a bin-man wearing dirty, stinking overalls (would you?).

That's just my opinion, obviously.

It's usually better to be overdressed than too casual and if someone says anything about it you can simply say you have another meeting that requires a suit. You might also consider calling a secretary at the company and asking what the people who do interviews usually wear to work and then dress accordingly. Most people actually appreciate an opportunity to be helpful.

SDK,

You can't go wrong with a suit for a interview. If you feel a tie is too much then wear some kind of knit shirt under with the buttons done up. Nice shoes and you're all set. No one can fault you for looking sharp and respectful.
